7 Struggles of Living at Home After Being an Adult

We've all done it at least once. Had to move back home after a break up to either pick yourself up and put yourself back together or to gather up enough funds to get moved out again.

I've been in that situation twice. This time isn't any easier than the last time. Overbearing parents. Ridiculous rules. Crazy arguments with said parents.

If you're going through this know you are not alone. And I truly feel your pain.

1. Being treated like a child. Parents always see their kids as babies no matter how old we get. But I'm twenty-five, not five.

2. Bed time. I know I have to work in the morning. I know I should get a good nights sleep. But I will go to bed when I want to.

3. Curfews. As long as I'm not out getting arrested or causing a crap ton of trouble.. Why does it matter what time I get home? Or where I'm going? Or who I'm doing it with?

4. Chores. Clean your room. Do your laundry. Clean off your dishes. Seriously.. I lived on my own for about 5 years. I know what needs done. Sometimes I want to be lazy about it.

5. Arguments. We argue because you see me as a child and not an adult. I get its hard for you as a parent. But its hard for me as an adult to know that I tried and failed at this adulting thing. I need to make mistakes to learn from them. I can't be protected forever.

6. No privacy. No knocks on the bedroom door. Like hello I could be naked changing my clothes. Can't run from the shower to my bedroom naked anymore.

7. Millions of questions. Who is that? Who are you talking to? Where are you going? When will you be back?

Thank you for allowing me to come home when I needed to. I know I'm a pain in the butt sometimes. And probably worse now that I've had my taste of being able to do what I want.. When I want.

One day I will move out again and I won't need to come back. One day I'll finally get the grasp of this adulting thing. One day you won't be here anymore and on that day I will cherish all the extra time I got with you.
