People who use online dating sites typically lie. They shave a few years off of their age, add an inch or two to their height…it’s as typical as exaggerating previous responsibilities and achievements on a resume.
But introducing yourself by calling someone out on what you believe is a lie may not be the best way to introduce yourself. But as reported in The Mirror, that’s what one OKCupid user (whose identity hasn’t been revealed), did when he sent this message to Natalie Guest, another site user. Clearly annoyed by her claim to be able to type 120 words per minute (yes, apparently she added that factoid in her profile – clearly, Natalie is a blast at parties…), the unnamed man wrote:
No “Hi”…no “How are you?”…just a blatant “You lie!” kind of message. Curious way to start a conversation, which Natalie points out in her reply:
Natalie then takes a small swipe of her own, which is too much for her suitor, who throws down the gauntlet and challenges her to the ultimate humiliation: a typing test:
But Natalie gets the last laugh, passing the flying test with flying colors. Note her final response…and the user name she chose to prove her skills on the typing site:
Still not really sure why this was ever an issue, why Natalie thinks typing skill are a turn-on, or why the mystery man got his panties in such bunch over it, but it makes for great online dating drama!
