23 Struggles of Being an Introvert

You don’t do big groups, and alone time is the best time. Being an introvert can be tough, but nothing is wrong with you. You’re just selectively social, and know how to have a blast all by yourself.

  1. You hate when that perky stranger starts chatting, and enters a very one sided conversation with you…
  2. And you smile, while occasionally nodding your head and praying that they’ll walk away…
  3. So you wear headphones to avoid this exact situation
  4. You’re not upset, and no you don’t hate everybody, you just aren’t in a very sociable mood
  5. People think your serious and mysterious because you don’t like to socialize often…
  6. But you just need to take socialization in small doses
  7. Occasionally you need a break from socializing, but you tell everyone it’s a restroom break or that you just want to get some fresh air…
  8. And during this “breath of fresh air” you’ve considered not returning
  9. You hate when you plan to hang out with someone and they invite a bunch of people without telling you, because they thought it was cool…
  10. It’s absolutely not cool with you, but you can’t say anything because now all of these people are here
  11. Before you agree to attend a party, you make sure at least 5 people you know are attending in case you get stuck
  12. You’re the absolute master at finding excuses for canceling plans to go out…
  13. And you know you’ve hit the jackpot when plans that you were in the middle of trying to escape get canceled
  14. You don’t host events or people in your home, because when you’re ready to stop socializing, there’s no polite way to kick everyone out. So you usually lock yourself in the bedroom, until everyone is ready to get out
  15. There is no “trying to break you out of your shell”. When you aren’t in the mood to socialize, people better back the hell away from you
  16. You’ve mastered the art of casually avoiding the ” Let’s hang out sometime” conversation
  17. Texting is a must… you don’t do phone calls
  18. You have promised to call someone, and don’t actually want to do it. So you call and let the phone ring twice before hanging up. That way you don’t have to deal with them answering, and the phone history would state that you did call
  19. You have been known to stand around texting at parties or social dinners…
  20. Which is what usually happens when the people you came with aren’t ready to leave the event, and you definitely are… worst yet when they’re your ride home
  21. You hate randomly seeing people you know in public. You usually cross the street or look the other way. You don’t hate them you’re just not in a socializing mood right now.
  22. God forbid they recognize you, and you’ll be stuck standing there and chatting about how they’ve been and how they haven’t seen you in forever
  23. You absolutely hate those “icebreaker” group activities where everyone needs to go around and introduce themselves
