You fight with them and you team up with them. You swear at them and you bless them. You hate them and you love them. Some things never change. That’s your world with siblings.
Siblings take your mother’s affection from you. You are enraged with jealousy when they get the new bike and you don’t. But when your eyes roll with tears, they are the ones who wipe them first.
Siblings give life to what would otherwise have been a dreary existence. With their mischiefs, they annoy you but they also make you laugh when you’re just about to cry. Life would have been a big massif to climb if not for them. After all, they are your best friends.
Here below are five reasons on why siblings are your best friends.
1. They’ve seen you through your best and through your worst.
Siblings are there when you fail in school and they are there when you graduate from college. You may appear to be a total failure to others but they know what you are capable of.
They know you have had fair share of laughs and cries in your life. They will never fail to encourage you when things are looking dismal. And, they also make sure you’re level-headed.
2. They just know you.
You don’t even have to say it. They just know it. Whether you just broke up or you blatantly lied to your parents, they know it. They also know when you’ve brought a gift for them, before you tell them.
It’s difficult to hide almost anything from them. As such, they are your partners in crime. If you’re thinking of doing anything, you have to first win them over. If they’re not on your side, you’re practically screwed up.
3. They are your most long-lasting bond.
For younger ones, the elders are their first friends. And for elders, they waited for younger ones even before they were born. The relationship between siblings must be the most enduring relationship.
It’s hard to remember anyone else than our siblings whom we have known for longer in our life. They are with us from the cradle to the grave. The bond between siblings is as permanent as it can get.
4. They will always be there for you.
Even when everybody has given up on you, they will be there for you. It doesn’t matter what the odds are. It doesn’t matter what everyone is pontificating. They will support you when you have made a decision.
They will pick you on their team for the football match when no one else picks you up because you are too small. And, they will be the first to testify for you when everyone is pointing fingers towards you.
5. They are honest with you.
They may be curt but they are honest with you. They never shy away from making their opinions known. They will tell you exactly what they think when you ask them what they think about your singing. No some sweet talks!
So if you want someone to give you honest advice, you can always get them from someone in-house. And, it will be free of charge. Well, sometimes you may have to bribe them with an ice-cream or a bottle of beer.
