I’ve met a lot of people in my life, people who have filtered in and out; people who have taught me lessons; people who have taught me nothing at all.
But looking back, I see a string of amazing women that have held constant in my life, women who have influenced me in ways few others could.
And I just want to take a moment to thank those women for being who they are.
I can’t imagine how I’d be even close to the person I am without your hand guiding me.
Your strength held me up when I was weak, and your defiance pushed me forward when I had no fight left in me. You have made me a better person just by existing and for that I’m ever so thankful.
I can barely understand what you went through before I came into your life. All I know is those experiences, good or bad, made you into someone beautiful.
They made you into the person who helped for me to do the same.
Now I know all of our moments together haven’t been perfect, and maybe we’ve had some hard times. All that said, looking back, I see even the worst moments we might have gone through as the ones which made me that much better.
They weren’t awful moments at all, but the best ones—the ones that taught me lessons I couldn’t have learned any other way.
So thank you for existing, thank you for taking on life, and thank you for standing by my side as I learn to take it on, too.
I can only hope to be half of the phenomenal woman that you are. Everything you do inspires me. Even on your lowest days, I want you to remember that.
I never want you to lose your amazing sparkle.
All this being said, I want to wrap this letter up with the two words that I just can’t say enough of to you.
They’re the words that I’d scream from a rooftop, that I’d say as I ball my eyes out in front of you, that I just want you to hold in your heart:
