How To Create Your Own Meditation Space

The practice of meditation is a sure fire way to connect with our higher power, to recharge our batteries, and to maintain our balance and our sanity in an insane and out of balance world.

Let me introduce to you my awesome meditation room in my Sydney Terrace home. This is my sacred space, the place where I feel the closest to my inner self.

You can have your sacred space, as well. You can use it for whatever relaxes you and makes you feel better. You can sleep, read, listen to music, sing and whatever else brings you the inner peace you need so much.

By creating this meditation space, you are going to take a giant leap on your spiritual development path.

Here you can ask questions to your soul and listen to its answers. You don't need a huge space to create this energy-corner. Even if you only have a small space available on your balcony or in your bedroom, it should be enough to make you feel enlightened. This space doesn't have to follow any rules. The only rule is the one dictated by your heart. Fill your meditation space with items you love. Allow yourself to feel relaxed and blissful.

Here are a few ideas to help you get started. Feel free to follow your own imagination and to unleash your creativity, as nothing is forbidden here.

1. Choose the space  in your house that makes you feel good.

Ideally, this should be a quiet place, away from noise and from other people passing by. If you can't afford one whole room to yourself, choose a corner in your bedroom or in your garden, and make it your medication space. If you can't find a quiet corner, you might want to use a bamboo screen to create an intimate feeling.

2. Avoid cluttering  the room.

You should only choose a few items that bring you happiness and serenity in your soul. Consider using a meditation pillow, a lovely rug and a coffee table.

3. Bring nature into  your space

As mediation is all about connecting to nature and to the Universe surrounding us, you can add here your favorite plant,  indoor water features or anything else you can find in nature. Some sand from the beach and a few shells would also do.

4. Find your peace in  music.

Music isn't an absolute must. Nonetheless, if you live in a noisy neighborhood, some peaceful, soothing music or some chants may help you reach tranquility much easier. If you don't want music, you can replace it with a fountain, as the sound of water is always soothing.

5. Use aromatic oils  to spoil your senses.

Incense, aromatic  oils or candles are all perfect ideas for attracting soothing energies into your corner. In addition, candles are great to focus on while meditating.

6. Make your space  personal.

Since this is your personal corner, make it feel so by adding several elements you enjoy watching. Anything would do, from bells and chimes to Buddha statues, brads, crystals and artwork. In addition, consider painting the room in a color you love, so that you can truly allow your spirit to rest and feel enlightened.
