Sometimes, even the things we're so beyond sure are going to work out, end up falling apart right in front of our eyes.
That's just the way that life goes sometimes, and we just have to accept that it's unfair but there's nothing we can do about it. And honestly, that's the easy part.
The hard part though, is understanding that there were some things that she could control. She could've held back, kept her walls up and not let herself get attached to you.
But instead, she did the opposite. She let you in and trusted you to protect her heart. And now it kills her that she put her everything into you.
She was standing at the edge, ready to fall, praying that you'd catch her. But then she realized she was all by herself because you walked away.
She was so wrapped up in love for you that she didn't realize I was standing alone.
So it's not you she can't get over, it's that she can't wrap her head around how blinded she was by something she thought was love.
She was so ready to commit myself to you. To change her plans, her goals, to uproot her whole life to be with you. She was so sure that this was right. How easy it was to develop feelings for you, to let you in and give you her heart.
But she was wrong.
And she can't believe it. So it's not that you broke her heart, it honestly has nothing to do with you. She just can't believe how close she got to giving away everything she had to someone who was ready to give her absolutely nothing in return.
It's terrifying, knowing that this could happen again, that she could put all her eggs in one basket only to have it get stepped on, breaking every single shell.
But from that feeling of terror, she learned to be more cautious. To be careful with her heart and to take her time in love. To only give the best parts of herself to someone who's willing to do the same.
She learned that not everyone means what they say. She learned that love can be blinding, so to make sure to bring her shades.
Now she knows that next time, she won't be so easy to take apart. Her walls won't come down as quickly. Even though it hurts now, she knows that she'll be better off without you than she ever was with you.
