Okay, it's rant time...lately I have seen so many social media posts floating around about women pumping their own gas while their boyfriends just sit in the car.
There are so many ridiculous comments about how a real "gentleman" would never allow his girlfriend to pump her own gas and how he needs to "man up" and do it for her. Wait, what? Reading all of those comments instantly pissed me off. Why? Because I'm an independent woman.
I believe women are capable of anything they set their minds to.
Women are not little dolls. We are not delicate creatures that need to be cared for. Whether it be going to school, working their way up in a company, or just pumping their own fucking gas...women can do it.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a man helping a woman if she needs and wants it. But why is it that a woman isn't supposed to be independent if there is a man next to her?
I don't know about you, but I don't need anything to be done for me.
I'm usually not one to complain about stupid social media posts, but this is ridiculous. Why is it when someone sees a girl pumping her own gas they automatically jump to the conclusion that the guy doesn't do anything for her or that he's a bad boyfriend?
What if the girl begged the guy to stay in the car, and he respected her enough to do so? I mean, whose right is it to jump to a conclusion based on a simple glance across a gas station parking lot? Whose right is it to post a picture just so everyone else can bash the man sitting in the car without knowing him?
Who gave you the right to judge a situation you don't know anything about?
That man could be really sick and needs to rest as much as possible. That man could've gotten in an accident and has a broken leg or a hurt back and has trouble moving for all you know.
There are so many different possible scenarios that it just doesn't make sense to jump to one conclusion. It doesn't make sense to bash a situation you're not even a part of.
I personally see no issue with a girl filling up her own tank with her own money.
If she is anything like me, she worked pretty damn hard for that money and prides herself in being able to do things for herself. So, if you see me outside pumping my own gas while my boyfriend just sits in the car and looks pretty, don't you worry, everything is going to be okay.
