First off, I want to formally introduce myself. Although I hope you have heard a lot about me and you’ve probably seen the pictures on her walls of the two of us from high school, for the past 4 years I was her you.
I was there for her in her awkward years when she would get nervous to talk to boys. I watched her dreams come true when she got into the college that you both go to, and I was there to hug her goodbye as tears streamed down our faces when she moved away.
I was her best friend and I still am, but its hard to be her best friend when we are hundreds of miles of way.
With that being said, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for taking care of her when she’s had too much to drink. She’s a wild one, as I’m sure you’ve found out by now. Thank you for making sure she gets home safely on those nights & for accompanying her to hangover breakfasts.
Thank you for being there to hug her when she gets her heartbroken. Knowing that she is hurting when I am so far away breaks my heart, but I find comfort in knowing that you are there for her.
Thank you for pushing her in her sport. While I know she loves what she does, she also doubts herself. Thank you for being her teammate that cheers her on when she succeeds and pulls her back up when she fails.
Above all else, thank you for loving her. She is one of the most amazing people I have ever known. She loves everyone with her entire heart and is always willing to help others. She needs someone like you and I to love her in the same way.
While I miss her everyday and count down the days until I see her again, I find peace in knowing that no matter what, you will be there for her.
I can’t wait to meet you one day soon.
