Why I Won't Compete For a Man

I know what I bring to the table.  Believe me when I tell you to not pit another woman against me.  It will not work in your favor.

If you talk about your ex in an attempt to make me jealous, I will yawn and look at my phone.  If you tell me how hot a girl is, I will simply agree with you.

If you want to choose between me and another woman, I won't tell you to choose her.  I will just remove myself as an option.

I enjoy competition.  I will play you in Mortal Kombat until your thumbs hurt.  I will talk shit during fantasy football.  I will give my all during a pickup game of basketball.  However, I will not compete with another woman for a man's attention.

I know who I am.  I am fierce, smart, kind and funny.  I am a joy to be around.  I have friends who love me unconditionally, which is how much I love myself.

If you can't see my awesomeness, then I feel sorry for you.

You can't fool me.  I won't hang on to your every word while you string me along,  I won't believe your fake promises.  I won't let you fill me with false hope.

I know the difference between someone who wants me and someone who values me.  I know the difference between attention and respect.

I am lovable.  I won't settle for someone who loves me…and her…and that girl over there.  So, no, I won't compete for you like you are a parking spot or a job.

You are not the prize, I am.

I know what I bring to the table. I bought the table.  In fact, I bought the house and everything inside of it.  I will be respected.  I will be valued.

If you can't do that, then in losing you, I have really won.
