He sucked the life out of you. You couldn’t see it, but he did. He slowly took away all the things that made you the amazing and extraordinary woman that you are.
It isn’t that you were weak or small or stupid for letting this happen—you were just better without him and didn’t realize it. Sometimes we don’t realize that until we’re too far gone.
When we find the wrong people they take away all the good things about our souls. We don’t have the means to be what they want us to be, so we feel we should become their expectations to make them happy.
Little by little, layer by layer, that means we’re pulled apart until we’re everything we never were before. That’s what he did to you, even if you didn’t realize it until it was too late.
The good thing is that you are so much better now without him. Even though you feel a little broken and messed up, you are now in your prime to fully and completely be yourself once again. You’ve been given the chance to open your eyes to who you were and create that wonderful woman once again. You can even make that person better than she was before.
You’re not just going to grow for yourself, but for the future you have in front of you. One day you will find a lifestyle and a person that compliment you for who you really are, people and passions that don't take all your pieces away and make you into someone you aren’t.
Eventually the life that strengthens you will fall into your lap, and the days of weakness and mistaken identity will be far behind you. Right now, that doesn't seem like a possibility. You are trying to clean up the fragments he left behind and crushed under his stupid, beat-up shoes.
But it all starts with you, you without him. You were always better without him, and now’s your time to shine and show him how you can fly on your own.
Go soar, sweet girl. Make the world your own again.
