Life throws a lot at us. I’ve been handed my fair share of twists and turns, bad days, struggles.
And I’ve been knocked to rock bottom so many times it’s ridiculous. I’ve almost given up at times. I’ve just about let everything go.
But I've realized we have to do something else in place of giving up.
Instead, we must try to climb. It’s a slow and painstaking journey to work yourself up from the depths.
When things are great, you'll climb higher than you ever did before. When everything kind of sucks, you may go nowhere at all.
That analogy made me realize something about healing: We're only as strong as our best day.
The thing about healing is that every moment is a struggle, but during some, when the pain is lighter than others, you feel a little more invincible. You almost feel complete.
You can only go as far as your strength allows. That's what it takes to try and become even more of who you truly are.
These are the moments you're the best you.
And when that 'strongest you' from your best times makes it out of what seems like a looming pit, you can move forward on your foundation with the newfound strength you possess.
You will have plenty of good days matched with bad days, no matter where you are on your journey. You will hike through mountains, you will swim in oceans, you will stagger through deserts, you will wade through city streets.
You'll do everything, more than you imagined, and it’s all because of the strength given to you by good moments.
Maybe you only have good periods every so often. That’s okay. It’s perfectly okay-- it’s more than okay. Because it’s a start. It may not seem like you’re moving very far when the good moments are few and far between, but they’re making their impact.
Because you're strong, and your best days are what prove it.
