It's been weeks, months, maybe even longer. You two have gone through so much together. Still, you find he won't completely let you in.
You do all of the cute things couples do. You've met his family and friends, you go out in public together; he is obviously not ashamed of you. But his actions remain a mystery. You wonder what truly goes through his mind.
You learn that he's been hurt in the past so you display your affection towards him. You care for him deeply in attempts to ease his aching heart. With time he begins to mean so much to you, more than he'll ever know.
However, you both continue to be at a standstill.
You start to question your worth and begin feeling insecure. You've lost your inner peace and you're beginning to feel like you've lost yourself.
The pain is real and undeniable. He's in your presence but he's not present. His mind's in a different place yet you can't seem to put your finger on it.
It drives you mad to the point where you're no longer seeing things clearly; you're no longer thinking clearly, and the next thing you know, you're being called acrazy psychopath.
The fights become intense and more frequent. You feel so misused and taken for granted that you try to tear him down with your words. The sharpness of your tongue cuts deep, causing damage and ultimately brings the hurtful truth:
He's still in love with someone else.
The truth breaks your heart into a million pieces. You've spent this entire time investing in what you thought could grow into something lasting and fruitful.
Sadly, you've been on your own this whole time while the person who you believed was your partner had different dreams, different goals, and a completely different person in mind.
In the end you realize that your feelings for him were authentic and if you aren't the one he loves then he should be with the person who makes him the happiest.
If that isn't a possibility than he should at least seek closure in order to move on with his life.
Maybe then he won't find the need to allow someone new into his life then take them on a never ending ride of uncertainty.
