7 Things People Who Have Social Anxiety Will Understand

1. Presenting

You think you’re prepared, memorizing what you need to say and even practicing in the mirror, but the moment you get in front of everyone, you mind draws a blank. With all eyes on you, you start sweating, and stuttering, or even just speaking quickly, not knowing what you’re saying. In the end, you feel all embarrassed, that you messed up.

2. Making Phone Calls

Having many questions racing through your head during the conversation. “What do I say?” “Will I make a fool of myself?” Texting and emailing is so much easier for you.

3. Overthinking…about everything

Overthinking will be the death of you. You think of so many other different ways you could’ve done something, and so many different words you could’ve said, hoping you didn’t screw anything up.

4. Always feeling like you are being judged.

From what you’re wearing, to how you’re doing something to even how you’re standing, you think someone is silently judging you.

5. Not really having any friends.

You’re too nervous to go up and talk to someone first, because you worry that you’re going to say something that will make them not want to deal with you. Then, once you’re friends with them, you worry that they will leave you once they get to know you.

6. You prefer interacting online.

Yes, they’re real people online, but you don’t get to see their facial reaction when you post something, making it somehow easier for you to handle.

7. Awkward Silence.

Needing to get out of that situation….fast!

Communication is Key, but You Lost It

Communication I believe is one of the main keys to having a successful relationship. In my past relationships, it was a big problem. You assured me that it wouldn’t be for us.

It wasn’t a problem…in the beginning.

We would talk to each other, hours on end, throughout the day, in many different ways. You knew what was going on in my life, and I knew what was going on in yours. I was happy.

Weeks went by and things started to change. I was lucky if I got to hear from you once per day, and even then the conversation was brief.

You claimed you were busy, but I guess you weren’t that busy to post on social media and view mine?

I get that life gets busy, but If you had time to do that, you should have time to talk to me, your own girlfriend.  Clearly, I wasn’t a priority.

I deserve better, I KNOW I deserve better. I don’t need to be in a relationship where I’m wondering when I’m going to be heard from next, wondering what’s going on in your life.

You know how I said that communication was one of the main keys to having a successful relationship? Well, you lost it, and soon enough, you’ll lose it all.

To the Friends I Use to Have, Thank You.

Throughout my short life, I have made friends…and lost them. With some of them, we just drifted apart, life happens. With others, let's just say it didn't end well.

No matter how I've lost friends, I would like to say something to everyone of them.

Thank you.

Each of you have taught me about myself. Did I take part in the friendship ending? If so, what was it and how can improve on myself in the future?

Some of you, I have realized have traits that I don't want in a friend and have done things that have either wronged me or that I can't support.

You've helped me see what I want in a friend and people staying by my side.

All of you were put in my life for a reason and I now see why.

So thank you to all of you. It was nice while it lasted.

Life's too short, so I have no bad feelings. All I wish is the best.

'13 Reasons' Why and its Importance

By now, everyone has probably heard of the book turned Netflix series "13 Reasons Why". Clay Jenson receives 7 cassette tapes that explains 13 reasons why, the 13 people, that made his crush, the girl he loves, Hannah Baker commit suicide.

Hannah has gone through the unthinkable, thanks to her peers, things that no person should ever have to go through.

On television it doesn't really show the aftermath of tragic events that women have gone through like her, but you see how it breaks down a once happy, and outgoing girl, to someone who is broken, depressed, thinking her only choice was to end it all.

It is shown right on the screen, Hannah during her final moments alive and beginning moments in death. It's heartbreaking to see, but it shows what words and actions can do to someone.

You see how her peers, the people who tore her down, mourn and be affected by this event in more ways to one.

If only they were nicer to her, treated her like the ways she deserved to be treated, with respect she would still be alive.

Hopefully this series opens people's eyes on what words and actions to someone can do. It can cost them their life.

2016: Overcoming the Year of Loss.

2016 was a year of loss for me.

I lost so many people that I thought would never leave, friends, lovers, that would be here for the good and the bad.

I put so much trust in them and they turned their back to me.

Not going to lie, tears were shed. Some people meant more to me than others. Them waltzing out of my life put me off guard.

Someone told me something though, “Everyone that comes in your life is either a lesson or blessing.”

They were right.

Every person that came and left my life has taught me a lesson.

I always thought I did something to drive them away. Maybe I did or maybe it was them, who knows.

Or maybe, it just wasn’t meant to be.

In the future, they could possibly come back into my life, but it’s up to them.

Que será, será…

8 Things I've Learned in 2016

2016 was quite an interesting year all around. I’ve learned quite a few things that made me so appalled in the world we live in.

1.  Harambe Wasn’t Just a Gorilla

He was shot at the Cincinnati Zoo after apparently attacking a little boy who fell in his home. Since, then he has been a meme.

2. How Much Hatred and Violence There is in the World

There has been so much hatred and violence this past year, I’ve lost count. I see it everywhere on the news and online. From Orlando, to Aleppo. This needs to stop.

3. People Were Obsessed With Pokemon Go.

Who knew that so many people would enjoy catching imaginary creatures on their phones? Literally everyone played it when it came out in July. Not going to lie, I still play it sometimes.

4.  How Many People Actually Supported Donald Trump

I never knew how many people liked Trump. It was so many that he ended up being elected as our next president.

5. New Music

So much new music came out this year, from Beyonce’s Lemonade to The Weeknd’s Starboy. I was not disappointed.

5. One Direction Will Be Back

Rumors have been flying around all year saying that One Direction are officially done after saying that they will be going on a break last year. Liam confirmed that they will be back.

7. Life is Short

So many iconic people have died, from Alan Rickman, to Prince, and most recently Alan Thicke. Enjoy it while you can because you never know when it is going to end.

8. Expect the Unexpected

This goes for every single thing. Sometime that never thought would happen, might just happen.

To the Year 2016

Last year, I thought that 2016 was going to be great, maybe the best year I’ve had so far.

Boy was I wrong.

Not going to lie, there were good things that have happened, but there were more bad than good.

This year was filled death, and violence. Things have happened that I never expected.

Do you know how many celebrities passed away this year?

David Bowie, Prince, Alan Thicke, the list goes on. We lost icons, legends.

The violence that happened in these past 12 months is just heartbreaking. From the Orlando shooting killing 49 to the violence in Aleppo killing endless people, so many innocent lives were lost.

Let’s not even talk about the presidential election, that was just was a mess in itself.

Not going to lie, I cried a lot this year, for many reasons. I could probably make a waterfall with the amount of tears I shed.

Even so, I’ve become a stronger and better person. I’ve grown and became more aware about what was going on in the world.

So, I say adieu to you 2016, and hello 2017.

To My Ex, Thank You

It's been a few months since I broke up with you and I've very well moved on, but there's something I want to tell you.

Thank you.

During our relationship, I felt pressured to do things, I did them for you. I wanted you to be happy. I was afraid that if I didn't do them, you would leave me.

I was scared.

Yeah I was happy with you, but looking back, I guess I was not as happy as I thought I was. I put your happiness over mine.

Towards the end of our relationship, I realized something.

I deserve better.

I deserve to be with someone who doesn't pressure me to do anything that I don't want to do. My happiness needs to be a priority.

It took me being with you to realize that.

So thank you.

"Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now. Well, I, I'm all the way up. I swear you'll never bring me down."
