13 Reasons You Should Pour a Glass (or Two) of Wine

As if you actually need reasons to justify your wine drinking.

It makes you feel classy.

Even if you’re hanging out at home in sweatpants, a glass of wine is still classy.

It’s basically fruit.

Which means it’s technically healthy…right?

Drinking wine can be equivalent to time spent at the gym.

Seriously…it’s scientifically proven. Drink up, friends.

You appear sophisticated.

Wine beats beer and liquor in the sophistication department. You seem more intelligent when talking about wine.

It gives you a good reason to eat cheese.

Not that you really need an excuse to eat cheese, but everyone knows wine & cheese go together.

It’s not frowned upon to drink a whole bottle.

1 glass of wine…1 bottle of wine…whatever.

Because you can slap the bag.

And we all know that’s a good time.

You’ll sleep like a baby.

Who needs NyQuil when you’ve got a bottle of wine?

There’s a surprising number of health benefits.

I was (pleasantly) surprised but wine is actually great for your health in many different ways. Look it up.

It’s the perfect way to celebrate a great day.

Enough said.

It’s the perfect way to unwind after a bad day.

Once again, enough said. Drink up.

It gets better with age.

You don’t have to worry about it going bad. It’s only going to taste better over time.

Because it’s delicious.

  • Or at least I think that’s how that works…

  • I can one up her, lets gooooo.
  • Bad idea. Bad idea.
  • Alright, I think I’m gonna call it a day. Until next time, gym.

Dear Mom and Dad

We don’t get to choose our parents, but I sure got lucky. Thank you God for blessing me with two of the greatest parents to ever walk this earth.

Seriously though, these two are one of a kind.

Anyone can have a child and call themselves “a parent,” but a real parent is one that puts their child above their own needs and wants. You always look out for me before yourself, and I’ve never seen someone be so selfless.

Thank you for raising me in a sturdy, loving household and for showing me what a successful marriage looks like. This isn’t something you see everywhere (sadly). Seeing true love through both of you makes me happy, and hopeful.

My parents are my biggest supporters, best friends, teachers, therapists, and so much more. Good news, bad news, and anything in between, you’re the first people I call because I know you’ll be supportive no matter what.

You’ve taught me to always work hard, do my best, and be humble. You’ve taught me the importance of respecting others. We’ve all heard the saying “Treat others the way you want to be treated,” but in today’s society a lot of people don’t abide by this. My mom has said this to me so many times that it’s now something I consistently live by.

In addition to that small life lesson, I’m thankful for all the other lessons (big and small) you’ve taught me along the way.

Thank you for teaching me never to settle. Whether that be in life, my career, with love, or in friendships. (Life lesson 1/1,32037529835)

Thank you for teaching me right from wrong. Thank you for picking me up when I fall, wiping my tears, kissing my “boo boos”, and always making me feel better when I’m sick.

College has taught me that there’s nothing like being away from home when you’re sick. College kids turn into big babies when they don’t have their moms there to nurture them back to health. Not joking.

Thank you for answering your phone at any time of day. I don’t know anyone else who would answer all of my silly questions about laundry, food expiration dates, and bills. Seriously, I would be lost without those answers. And even when I ask you a question you don’t know the answer to, you make an effort to go find it. Or you make one up. Either way, you’re somehow always right. Always. It’s like you’re a magician or psychic or something.

Thank you for making me laugh by trying to be “hip.” Watching you try to act like the young people nowadays, while ridiculous, has proven to be entertaining.

Thank you for transferring money into my account when I call from college with $0.65 in my bank account. (Help me I’m poor)

Thank you for always instilling confidence in me. Whether I’m applying for a job, nervous about a test, or going on a date, you always make me feel like I can conquer the world (which is a pretty good feeling).

Thank you for making me the person I am today. I couldn’t be more grateful that you’ve shaped me into an open-minded, realistic, and independent individual. I promise to do everything I can to make you proud.

I will continue to do the best that I can in all of my endeavors. I want to be successful not only for myself, but for you.

Thank you from the  bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done for me so far, and everything you will do for me in the future.

P.S. Sorry for being sassy in my teenage years. The older I get, the more I appreciate everything you do. I love you to the moon and back a million times, mom and dad.

A Thank You Letter To My College Sorority

A Thank You Letter to My College Sorority

Warning: This isn’t a Cinderella story about how I finally got to join the sorority I’d always dreamed of. Mostly because, well, I never dreamed of being in a sorority.

It honestly had never really cross my mind.

I had no idea what was behind the pretty dresses, sparkly signs, and cliché pictures.

Once I decided to take a leap of faith and give it a try, I can tell you that I never looked back. It’s kept me around over the years, and after reading this I think you’ll know why.

To start off, thank you for being my home away from home. You given me a place to by myself, surrounded by people who have become my family and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.

Thank you for bringing me my best friends. Seriously, THANK YOU. I wouldn’t be able to ride this college rollercoaster without them.

Through my sorority, I’ve found my very best friends, my roommate, my shoulders to cry on, my partners in crime, my therapists and so much more (but I won’t bore you with a long list).

I’ve learned how to stay open-minded and always put yourself in someone else’s shoes before passing judgement. You never know what someone is going through until you take the time to find out.

Living in my sorority house brought me so many fond memories. No, we didn’t have pillow  fights. But we did help each other stay up and study for big tests, discuss our dreams and futures, help cure each other’s heartbreak, and have fashion shows when it came time for formals.

Whether we were talking about frat guys vs. GDI guys, what Netflix show I should watch next, or how to get a spring break bod in a week, I appreciate all of these silly conversations alongside the meaningful heart-to-hearts.

My sisters understand my biggest fears, my dreams, and my dirty little secrets; and you know what, they love me anyways. Thanks to their unconditional love (and occasional kick in the butt when I needed it), they’ve helped make me the person I am today.

My sisters have seen me at my best, and they’ve seen me at my worst. I think that’s one of the things that makes our relationship so special.

We are the first one’s clapping and cheering (or snapping in our case) when someone has good news. I know when I have something exciting to share, I can’t wait to tell the chapter because I know there will be a room full of people supporting me.

On the other end, we are also waiting with open arms, a tub of Ben & Jerry’s, and maybe even a bottle of Moscato (for those of age) when necessary. Times that call for these measures include failing an important test, changing your major (which is actually totally normal), and God forbid…heartbreak.

In all aspects of my life, Gamma Phi Beta has made me a stronger, more confident woman. It’s helped me strive academically, participate in community service, and pursue leadership opportunities.

They say it’s the little things that matter in life, and my sorority has given me millions of little things to be thankful for.

Thank you Gamma Phi Beta. For everything.
