The Woodhouse Day Spa has over 70 spa treatments including massage therapies, facial rejuvenation, whole-body treatments, sleep therapies, expert manicures, pedicures, waxing and more. They recently opened up a new location in Leawood, Kansas. Not far from the Apple Store, Lululemon and The Body Lab.  We test drove a few of their Seaweed treatments, including the Lazy Days Renewal Ritual which uses organic, hand harvested seaweed.

What They Say

Founder Jeni Garrett opened the first Woodhouse Day Spa in Victoria Texas in 2001 and now the nationwide Spa has expanded to over seventy Woodhouse Day Spas in twenty one states. From facials to massage therapies, and whole body treatments. Woodhouse is the ultimate retreat to renew and rejuvenate.

The Treatment We tried

LAZY DAYS RENEWAL RITUAL
This spirit-renewing ritual begins with a body scrub using the finest organic, hand-harvested seaweed. Next you enter a soothing bath filled with seaweed, sea salt and aromatherapy essences of spice and citrus. Last but not least, you finish with a 45-minute massage using nourishing seaweed and toning oil. Treatment time is 80minutes. And the cost is 150.00 USD

How Was The Treatment

In a word? Amazing. The seaweed and salt scrub really got my chillax on. And the soaking tub experience in the slimy and divine seaweed sealed the calm. After fifteen minutes of playing in the seaweed like a child the beach, I was in my zen mode. I was then brought back to the table for a forty five minute seaweed and toning oil massage. I am pretty sure I was napping on the beach mentally by then. My skin felt soft and smooth and I was relaxed and calm for the remainder of the day.

 

Is It Affordable? What is the cost? Would I Purchase?

80 minutes of anything for 150.00 dollars is a spa steal in my opinion. And the organic quality of the seaweed paired with the Voya scrub made this treatment not only opulent but also affordable.

 

Would I Recommend ?

I highly recommend visiting a Woodhouse Day Spa near you. Try the seaweed wrap or the seaweed pedicure and scrub which also features a vichy shower.  Or look into their hydra facials and couples massage treatments too. The spas carry high end products such as Farm House Fresh and will likely give you samples to take home with you.

 

The Down-low on The Downside

Although the Woodhouse Day Spa in Leawood does feature water treatments, a soaking tub and a quiet room, it does not yet feature a sauna or steam room. You’ll hardly notice tho as the entire environment is completely serene. Book your appointment here by calling the Leawood location direct as they currently do not offer online booking.  And be sure to get there early enough to fill out your initial paperwork which can appear lengthy, but you will only need to fill it out once, And you will be back.

Yummie is more of an shapewear company than an activewear company. Offering a wide range of clothing styles in their online catalog. From activewear and lifestyle goal oriented pieces, to fitness, swim, lounge and everyday wear. The Yummie offers it all. Oprah highlighted a Yummie tank as on of her faves in 2008, and the companies exposure and growth has been expanding ever since.

Quality Ease of Use, Packaging?

I ordered the poppy active leggings with pocket and a black racer back bra. They came in an easy to open package. Both garmets had washing instructions on them that were easy to read.

Is It Affordable? What is the cost? Would I Purchase?

Prices for each item range from $18.00 USD to 58.00 average cost for the high impact pieces.  Cheaper than most of their competitors.

 

Would I Recommend ?

The black racerback bra fit comfortably and I really put it to the test. I played tennis in it and I spent a day teaching pilates and lagree fitness in it. Comfort and durability was great. I compared it to a more expensive competitor bra and found that the Yummie bra was just as good as the more commercial brand but slightly cheaper.

The leggings were true to size and fit well as a summer capri.

I would recommend shopping on the Yummie site for styles that suit your curves from petite to plus size, for fitness goals and for lifestyle. The dresses and loungewear look super cute too.

 

The Down-low on The Downside

The poppy active leggings were a bit thick in material. Much better for Fall and Spring where I live.

Both sets of chocolates came in a shipped box with brightly colored logos on a sustainable box. The instructions were to store in a cool dry place away from sunlight to maintain their freshness.

The package was a sustainable package and they donate to One Tree Planted and 8 Billion Trees.

Is It Affordable?

Average box of six pieces goes from 16.99 to 23.00 USD.

Would I Purchase?

I have to order more. They are very popular and I had ordered just before Valentine’s Day. So they are currently restocking. I am not a huge lover of Dates but their vegan chocolate was so creamy and delicious, I am willing to give them a try. Along with reordering those Peanut Butter Caramel Bars as soon as they are available again.

Would I Recommend ?

I highly recommend ordering your own Daydream Dessert Chocolates. I enjoyed every one and I did not share.

The Down-low on The Downside

Handmade chocolates take time to make package and ship. So expect seven to ten days to receive your chocolates. I know, but Emma makes these with love and they are worth the wait. The package is small. So six tiny decadent pieces will be great for you. Perhaps you should order two boxes?

Quality

Their lightweight four layer mask was very comfortable with a nice nose brim for extra breathability. Simple straps with adjuster ties on the side with a soft white inner lining. A muted slate grey makes the mask neutral enough to wear everyday.

Ease of Use, Packaging?

The mask came in a small shipping box and wrapped in a sanitary plastic wrap. Wash your mask with cooled boiled water and no detergent.

Sustainability

While it came in plastic, the mask itself looks to be made with pure cotton and some elastic.

Is It Affordable?

They retail for 27-30.00 USD on their website.  So you will be paying a bit more for the extra copper protection.

Would I Purchase?

I found the mask extra comfortable and I loved the four layer protection. Because the material is is made with copper, it will maintain its antimicrobial protection even with many washes. So I will definitely buy more.

Would I Recommend ?

I would recommend this mask. I am also interested in buying their gloves and checking out the other products on their customer website.

 

The Downlow on The Downside

Copper is antimicrobial. So the mask is a bit more expensive because of the technology. So this is the case of you get what you pay for if you want a pathogen destroying mask. And don’t we all?

The care instructions require a second read to. While the mask is sanitized as is, the care instructions are specified here- so read carefully before you wash.

It is a simple to use tool that has very clear instructions. So, to avoid any frustrations, it is best to clip and zip a few times before you slip on that dress. That way, you get the best experience. How many times have you zipped up your dress backwards and had to turn it back around because you were missing this handy tool?!!!

So Cal Cool Kicks Born in 1966 at a little shop in Anaheim, CA has grown into a global entity. Skater shoes, cruisin’ kicks, and sneakers for many sandy beach and skateboard chic generations. You can go online and order your Vans custom style.  As a child I grew up going to the Vans store with my older brothers. They would want a specific color and I would want the same. So my mother would sneak my pair at the counter and my brothers had to deal with the fact that we were matchy matchy. Yes, I was that little girl. … and Vans options have definitely evolved.

 

Vans Customs Design Options

Using the Custom Tool, you can choose you own style then the design. From checkered sides to colored panels and images that you upload. I found the process both fun and easy to navigate. You can customize any shoe for adults and kids.

Such a creative way to design and purchase shoes online. With the pandemic especially, I found this process to be super entertaining for gift giving and getting myself a fall pair of sneaks.

You can buy already designed styles of Custom Vans from pro skaters, surfers and other celebs or  just get inspired from.

Ease of Use, Packaging?

I customized a pair of shoes with ease. They arrived in the normal Vans Box with a cute bag to carry them in. I also had a sheet showing the design choices I made.

 

Are They Affordable?

Customizing costs less than twenty additional dollars per pair.

Would I Purchase Them?

I purchased a pair of high top vans using the Custom tool. I get compliments every time I wear them.

Would I Recommend Them?

A Vans Customs Gift Certificate is an excellent holiday gift idea. I purchased one for my eight year old niece. She had so much fun designing her special custom Vans. And you can also customize backpacks using the Customs Tool.

The Down-low on The Downside

Shipping can take four to six weeks. Be careful with the colors and gradients. And make sure you take a close look before you finalize your design.

Also, beware. Custom Vans with any images that you uploaded or embroidered cannot be returned.

My goodies arrived in sustainable packaging. A simple box with little plastic. A brochure and coupons were included.

The companies goes the extra mile in detailing dosage usage. The tincture is easy to use and the salves are great for rubbing into tight muscle areas.

 

Are The Products Affordable?

The products are reasonably priced. All products including the salves are curated with integrity and care. What makes these products so special, isn’t just the organic, full spectrum CBD, all of the ingredients are organic and of the best quality. The salves range from 45.00-75.00 USD for 2 fl ounces and the Tinctures in different potency ranges cost 45.00 (1oz) and up to 150.00. Would I Recommend Their CBD Products?

I am so impressed with the salves. You can carry them conveniently in your bag with other lotions and makeup items. Since we are all typing so much more these days, I found rubbing the deep tissue on my hands and neck made for a beautiful sleep. If you take many pictures on your phone, and you have images you want easily cropped, textured, collaged and overlayed with text. I highly recommend this professional tool. You will go so much quicker when you post images. This app is great for bloggers, business online but also for personal photo taking and social sharing on Instagram and other channels.

The Down-low on the Downside

There is a cost associated with the pro which is 8.99 a month. I recommend trying the free trial and once you find you quickly get the hang of it, try the pro out for a three month trial.

I have been using the HydroMATE for about a week. And I have been drinking more water. I love the pretty sleek design and I am a big fan of glass bottles. What I noticed more than anything else, is that I want to fill the bottle to the top. The motivating words are working!

I recommend these for anyone who wants to start drinking more water. These are a great option for kids to create great water drinking habits.

The Down-low on the Downside

The glass bottle is sleek in design, but it can also be slippery. You can consider an insulated sleeve, which also has motivating quotes to get you to hydrate.

I love what HydroMATE is doing with their motivational drinking bottles. The motivating words allow you to see where your H20 intake is at per hour. So from 8am til 6pm, how much water you are drinking, and really how little you have been drinking. I am going to keep up with it, and hopefully get myself to three liter refills a day. Would I Purchase Them?

I bought a Q Series Weber about five years ago. And I am starting to use it more now as I grill in quarantine.

Would I Recommend Them?

Big grill taste in a mini portable gas grill. The Weber Q series is easy to navigate gas grilling and lightweight enough to take along on a camping trip. I use mine once a week, lately. And I have gotten more than my money’s worth. I would like to buy the griddle accessory for camping. Could make great hotcakes on this grill. It heats up fast. Great for someone with a smaller outdoor space, or an on the go, camper.

The Down-low on the Downside

Each 16 ounce liquid propane tank will last only about two hours each. There is no warning as to when these run out, so always have one or two handy. You can get a pack of six here.
