Chrissy Teigen Criticized Over Canada Shooting Comments

Model Chrissy Teigen has been accusing of trivializing the shooting drama in Canada on Wednesday Oct 22nd by comparing the atrocity to American gun attacks.

A 24-year-old soldier was shot and killed while standing guard at a war memorial in Ottawa before the gunman went on a rampage in the parliament building where Prime Minister Stephen Harper was addressing fellow politicians. The attacker was shot dead by a ceremonial official.

Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend, went online in the aftermath of the events in Ottawa to comment on Twitter.com, writing, “Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday That’s not a joke. It is a fact.”

The remark prompted a storm of criticism, with users accusing the brunette beauty of insensitivity in light of the attack, but Teigen refused to back down and instead attempted to explain her post, adding, “Sorry you don’t understand that is a knock at America and our issues with gun control. No one is minimising the Ottawa shooting… I’m not apologising. If you take it wrong, that is your fault… For some reason, Canadians think I am saying they have a lot of shootings. I am not saying that. Sigh… I’ve lost faith in this world. Sorry if it comes off as being unemotional…”

Teigen went on to share a number of nasty, expletive-filled messages which she had received from angry Twitter followers, and added, “It’s been a while since I inadvertently p**sed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks.”
