Singer Morrissey has taken a bizarre swipe at President Obama and questioned his ethnicity amid riots over the police shooting of an unarmed teenager.
Unrest has broken out this week in several major American cities and there have been protests in New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. following a grand jury ruling over the killing of Michael Brown.
A cop who gunned down the teenage thief during a confrontation in Ferguson, Missouri in August (14) will not face charges, sparking fury among Brown’s supporters.
Now former “The Smiths” star Morrissey has waded into the controversy, suggesting it throws into doubt Obama’s support for black communities.
During a concert in Antwerp, Belgium on Wednesday, the singer ranted about the case and railed against the grand jury ruling before telling the audience, “Is Obama really black? I don’t think so.”
