The 9 Most Badass Samuel L. Jackson Roles of All Time

Samuel Jackson has given us countless classic characters over the years.  His guts and gusto make each role he steps into automatically entertaining, quotable, and must see.  Below we take a look at the most badass roles he’s ever had…

John Shaft, Shaft

In this modern take of the cult 70’s classic film series, Samuel L. Jackson inherits one of the coolest and most notorious badass roles and makes it his own – bloodying up street scum.

Ordell Robbie, Jackie Brown

Nobody is safe from the wrath of Jackson’s Ordell Robbie, who despite rocking a now real goofy looking pony-tail, is willing to kill friends and foes if his path does not remain clear.  This is just one of many awesome Tarantino/Jackson collaborations.

Neville Flynn, Snakes on a Plane

I mean, duh, right? How could this role not make this list?  Even though the most burning memory about this movie remains Kenan Thompson of Saturday Night Live fame being able to land a plane due to his experiencing piloting a video game on his PSP (what?!), Flynn was the real hero on the titular plane, and he sure had a motherfuc*ing problem with the titular snakes, too.

Nick Fury, Marvel Cinematic Universe

The one eyed man with the plan, Nick Fury, is of course on this list.  With a presence spanning a half dozen major blockbuster motion pictures lending a huge helping hand in literally saving the universe as we know it, Nick Fury is a total badass.  He almost doesn’t even need the eye-patch, but it definitely seals the badassery deal.

Lazarus, Black Snake Moan

Because any character with mutton chops like that who gets to keep a very steamy Christina Ricci on a chain deserves a place on any list with “badass” in its title. Right?

Frozone, The Incredibles

Not only does it just warm my heart knowing that Samuel Jackson has a place in the Pixar lexicon, but Frozone also is a total bonafied badass who, without him, the Incredibles would’ve totally been doomed.

Jules Winnfield, Pulp Fiction

There probably isn’t a character quoted as frequently and vehemently as Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. Alongside John Travolta, the two create one of the most volatile and dangerous duos in film history. Say what again!

Mace Windu, Star Wars Episodes 2 & 3

You know why Mace Windu is such a badass? The purple lightsaber, baby. Samuel Jackson famously demanded the unique saber color before accepting his place in the Star Wars canon as one of the fresh airs of badassery that kept us awake through the prequels.

Afro Samurai, Afro Samurai

Who else could have helped bringing this beloved manga series to life in a fantastic anime mini-series than Samuel Jackson? I mean, when you hear the phrase “Afro Samurai” aren’t you immediately compelled to think of something equally as cool sounding – like the voice of Samuel L.?

Exactly.
