I believe every woman has a choice regarding how she lives her life. If you want to be a work-a-holic surgeon with no time for a man, you go girl. If you want to teach little kids but choose not to have any of your own, you go girl. But if you want to spend your adult life raising the future of our world, you have every right to do that too.
A woman who wants to be “domestic” is no less of a feminist than a woman who chooses to be an independent person with no ties to a man or a child. As long as it is what you want, there’s no reason not to go for it. Spending your Saturday night cleaning the house or putting your baby to bed doesn’t have anything to do with the equality you believe women and men should have.
Being a feminist is about lifting up other women. If they choose something you disagree with, recognizing that it is their choice is the first step to getting that #GRLPWR.
I am a feminist. And I believe in women. I stand with women. And I know women can do some seriously amazing things. But if the amazing thing I want to do is be a wife and mom, that is valid, too.
