Consignment Shopping 101: What’s Hot and What’s Not

Consignment Shopping 101

Need a little extra cash? I have a brilliant way for you to make a little dough! Clean out your closet!!
Yes, you heard that right! Your local consignment shops would be thrilled to look through your items and offer you cash for things you no longer want! So how do you go about knowing what these local shops want? First thing, go visit the shops in your area. This is a great way to find out their fashion aesthetic and see what they are currently buying.  Second, talk to the owner or staff and ask what their typical buying procedures are. Most shops offer a percentage of the used market value for a particular item in either cash, store credit or consignment. If you choose the cash or credit option, you get your cash or credit immediately. If you choose the consignment option, you receive a percentage of the profit once the items sells. All shops vary so be sure to ask what their options are.
On top of getting cash for your unwanted items, consignment shops have amazing one of a kind items that you simply cannot find in retail shops. From contemporary fashion to vintage wears, there is much to be discovered!
They are typically very selective about the pieces that they purchase and consign, so you are only going to find items that are in impeccable condition, many of which look as if they are new and by shopping resale, you are significantly lowering your carbon footprint.
Did you know that that globally we produce 13 tons of textile waste every year and 95% of which is reusable, resell-able or recyclable? If everyone on the planet would buy just one recycled garment in lieu of buying that same item in a retail store, it would amount to taking 800,000 cars off the road..now that is an incredible statistic! Just think, you could help change the world by just shopping!!
So let’s recap: Visit consignment shops, sell your clothing, buy one of a kind items, save the planet, and never fear a ‘bitch stole my look’ moment. See my fall fashion must haves! Watch
