The Iron Women Of The Sports World

Women rule the sports arena. Here are some of the toughest gals to grace the stage – no holds barred. These ladies are badass to the extreme, putting many of the best men to shame.

So, who are the iron women of the sports world? Every year, a pack of contenders begins the ultimate challenge – the Ironman World Championships. There are many incredibly talented female athletes, notable among them – the Angry Bird herself, Daniela Ryf. With multiple championship titles to her credit, notably the Ironman 70.3 WC in Nice, she remains the athlete to beat, even in a packed field of powerful male contenders.

Other notables include the likes of Sarah Crowley – a legendary sportsperson. In 2019, she placed well with two second place finishes, in 2018 she placed sixth, and in 2017 she finished third. She has legs of thunder and the endurance of a wolf chasing down its prey. With tremendous bike riding skills, replete with stamina, endurance, and pace, she’s also got the legs to run marathons with the best of them.

German Ironman, Anne Haug has tremendous credentials too, and certainly can go toe to toe with her compatriots. If anyone can make it to the top spot, it’s her. Alongside Haug, is the multitalented Laura Philip. Having won the Ironman 2018 in Barcelona, she remains a relative dark horse in the Ironman arena. Make no mistake about it, she is every bit as skilled, talented, and capable as the best of them. When it comes to contests, these power players are naturals and they make it easy for punters in the sport betting world. These gals have got game, and they know how to win.

Female athletes aren’t scared to throw a few punches either – UFC/MMA action is peppered with the likes of Valentina Shevchenko, Felice Herrig, Jessica Eye, Bethe Correia, Ronda Rousey, Paige VanZant, Alexandra Albu, and Rachel Wray. The list goes on. One thing we can’t deny is the fierce determination that women athletes possess – they electrify the crowds, ignite a firestorm of interest in an otherwise predictable men’s sporting scene, and they inspire countless millions to participate in the wide world of sports.

When it comes to power, there is a preconceived notion that the fairer sex is the weaker sex – that doesn’t necessarily hold true. Ask people like Marianna Gasparyan, who is the world’s #1 power lifter – she bested Stacy Burr for that spot. At just 123 lbs, she lifted 485 lbs on the dead lift, 292.1 lbs on the bench press, and 573lbs on squats. That takes tremendous strength, mental fortitude, and incredible determination.

Other notable power players in the bodybuilding world include the likes of Stefi Cohen, and Chakera. The sport has evolved rapidly over the years, encompassing many more female athletes than ever before. Powerlifting is a unique vocation with strength, stamina and mental fortitude trumping the standard lean, mean, chiseled physiques that the world has come to expect from the body sculpting pursuits of yoga, Pilates, ballet, and bodybuilding.
