Working out: Motivation is a liar.  Here are a few reasons why:

4. When I take rest days, the desire to go back the day after is almost non-existent.

No lie, you guys.  I want to give a serious shoutout to the men and women that don’t struggle with this.  I do my best to listen to my body and be realistic, so I understand the importance of rest days.  But when I know my body is feeling good after that rest, my mindset is literally saying, “Girl, you do not need to go to the gym today, your job is done!.”  Sure, I could take another day off to rest and reset, but what a disservice I am doing to myself.  This is, again, where discipline will trump motivation any day.

So, my advice is simply this – discipline will be there when motivation isn’t.  I asked my father a while back in he was disappointed in me (for a reason well beyond what I’m writing about today).  But hear me out.  He told me, “not really, but I would love to see you find your calling in life and someone to share it with.  But not at the expense of losing yourself.”  That resonated with me on a heavy level and I love my father to pieces for always speaking his truth.  He doesn’t see everything I do…i.e. my lifestyle of working out and staying healthy.  He knows I’m big into it, but my family as a whole doesn’t see all of it or understand.  And that’s okay!
