The Chaos Continued, So Did Soccer… And Sonya

 

Everything turned into a competition for me.

The one edge I had over her was that I was much more athletically gifted. Since my infamous “we suck” proclamation circa 1995, I played soccer near year around. I excelled greatly at it and was one of, if not, the best player on all of my teams up until the age of 10. When you turn 10, you are then allowed to try out for club soccer, which is a much more competitive form of soccer competition for more dedicated players with higher skill levels.

Guess who begged her parents to let her try out? If you guessed anyone but me, you’re clearly not comprehending the major points of my story so far, so start back at page one. 

After much deliberation between my father, who had been like a secondary soccer coach to me throughout my short career, and my mother, they finally decided to let me try out. My mother feared that my competitiveness and inability to deal with failure may produce disastrous results if I was not selected for the “A” team.
