13 Ways to Unleash Your Inner Diva

Girls are magical creatures. Why? Well, besides the obvious, when a girl is born she’s born with a bit of goddess in her. The trick is just finding out how to unleash that goddess…

1. Compliments on compliments.

The brain believes what it’s told, even if you’re the one doing the telling. Instead of focusing on the bad, focus on what you love about yourself. You’d be surprised at how spending five or ten minutes looking at the mirror and repeating “You are beautiful, great, and wonderful” will leave you sparkling for the rest of the day. Do it often enough and you won’t even need to remind yourself because you’ll already know it. 

2. A little black dress is a classic for a reason.

Life is short and you might not have this body forever. While you still can, invest in a little black dress that shows off your figure – you’ll thank yourself for this when you’re older. Better yet, show up at a house party totally overdressed, not giving a damn. That’s called confidence.

3. Drink champagne, even if it’s not a special occasion.

Why has society forced us into saving champagne for special occasions when you can get some to spice up a Tuesday night? Getting some doesn’t have to be a total splurge, either – you can definitely get away with Prosecco. (Shh, nobody knows.)

4. Your body totally affects your mind.

Ladies, ever found yourself feeling sad or depressed and realized your posture was doing the same exact thing? That’s because our minds affect our bodies. Luckily, it’s a two-way street. Your body also affects your mind. It’s that simple. Standing up tall elongates your height and makes your neck look longer, giving you that royal glow. Plus, did you know that smiling (and even forcing one!) actually releases those sought-after happy chemicals?

5. Eat a burger. Chug a beer.

A girl who isn’t afraid of chowing down on a nice burger and washing it down with a beer is a goddess in anyone’s books.

6. Nailpolish, baby.

Stuck in a dark gloom? Spoil your nails with some bright or contrasting nail polish! Not only will they make you look tanner, they’ll add an instant boost to your mood any time you look at them. Pair a vibrant color with an all-black or all-white outfit for that extra edgy badass effect.

7. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good.

This is a big one because we’ve all had that toxic friend before. The one who only feels good if she’s with a guy, the one who always focuses on what she’s missing, the one who puts you down in front of others or flat out refuses to talk about anything that doesn’t relate to her. Cut those friends out. Now. Seriously. You’ll be doing yourself a huge favor by surrounding yourself with people who are interested in the world, who want to hang out with you for the sake of hanging out with you, who will laugh along with you to stupid shit. Shower those good friends with as much love as you can – remember, you get what you give.

8. Laugh at yourself.

Because there really is nothing more appealing than a girl who can fall flat on her face and laugh afterwards. Or goes to karaoke night completely wasted and sings “Stop in the Name of Love.”

9. Count your blessings.

Stop for a moment to think about all the great things going on in your life. Maybe you’re taking a really cool class or just got an amazing new job. Maybe you’re simply cozied up with some pizza and Netflix – because, really, nothing beats that. So take in the moment – no really, take it in – and you’ll be rocking diva status in no time.

10. Sip on your favorite cocktail in the sun.

Whether it’s a margarita or a classic gin and tonic, you know what your go-to cocktail is when you’re trying to have a good time. Pair that with some sunglasses, a great hat, and the sun – it’s all you’ll ever need. 

11. Cook yourself a meal.

Channel your inner (domestic) diva, even if you can’t cook to save your life. Conquer that kitchen! You deserve to whip up a special treat that’s made for you and by you. Even if it’s penne pasta.

12. Work out, even if you don’t do so regularly.

Besides being a great excuse to wear yoga pants, working out rids your body of toxins and makes you feel stronger in general.

13. No one does you better than you.

At the end of the day, you’re a diva because you are you. There’s not a single person in the world who looks or acts exactly the same way that you do. Know that next time you’re outside or in your room and make the most of you being you.
