15 Things That Happen When Your Gay BFF is Your Soulmate

Everyone’s got their BFF. Someone to laugh with, chat with, share secrets with. But there’s a special kind of BFF who can do all that and more — and that’s your gay best friend:

1. You’ve got the perfect person to talk about boys with…

He likes boys — AND HE IS ONE. You can’t remember how many late nights you’ve spent chatting about your crushes and killer sexcapades.

2. While doing everything you can do with a girlfriend.

Every stereotypical girl BFF scenario can easily be reenacted with your gay BFF. There’s nothing unusual about eating pints of ice cream in your PJs while crying about your exes and watching The Notebook.

3. He gives you the best guy advice.

He understands how men work and always knows the right thing to say. Because he’s suave AF. He can tell you when you’re being thirsty as hell and when you shouldn’t text this guy. Ever again.

4. He knows how to party.

Have you ever been to a gay bar? Those boys are dancing on tables at the bar, grinding to awesome music and having a *ahem* gay old time (thank you, I’m here all week).

5. You have a showdown each weekend to figure out where you’re gonna go out for the night.

Are you gonna go to a gay bar or a “straight bar?” It all comes down to who’s gonna get laid at the end of the night. You passive-aggressively try to get the other to party on “your turf” for the night. But no matter what, you’ll still have a great time because you’re BFFs.

6. He cramps your style at bars.

Guys always think he’s your boyfriend when you go out together, so even if he does cave and come to your bro-filled bar, you probably won’t get laid anyway. But no guy can ever come between you and your gay BFF. You’d rather party with him than any straight guy.

7. He’s got great taste in music…

All the gay icons in Hollywood are fierce AF. There’s Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Britney, to name a few. You both spend a solid amount of time bowing down to these boss bitches every day — and you know he’s always up to see these ladies in concert.

8. …And TV.

When you both heard Lady Gaga was going to star in the fourth season of American Horror Story, you both just about sh*t your pants. But apart from Mother Monster appearing in your favorite campy horror anthology, you guys are always down to binge-watch RuPaul’s Drag RaceWill & Grace and Sex and the City.

9. His opinion of your new S.O. is more important than your family’s.

It doesn’t matter if your parents love the sh*t out of your new boo. If your gay BFF doesn’t approve, this new guy is f*cked. Your gay BFF has got a whole list of criteria that this guy must meet, otherwise he doesn’t get to date someone as awesome as you.

10. Brunch is a mandatory Sunday ritual.

Sipping on mimosas while chowing down on eggs and French toast are simply steps in your routine after a long weekend of partying — like brushing your teeth. You don’t even think twice about it.

11. He “gets you” more than your female friends do.

Let’s face it — girls can be catty AF. There are things you wouldn’t necessarily share with a female BFF; you can only share them with your gay BFF. Because he’s sensitive and compassionate. And girls can be self-absorbed.

12. He’s sassy AF.

He makes you get your sh*t together when you’re at your lowest. He always pushes you to your fullest potential — even if it means yelling at you for not cleaning the bathroom more. He’s brutally honest, and you thank him for that every day.

13. He looks good all the time.

He never leaves the house without looking and smelling his best. He makes you want to dress to the nines so he doesn’t make you look like three-day-old garbage while you’re out together.

14. He’s always ready to be your date.

If you’re dreading going to your second cousin once removed’s wedding where you’ll know absolutely no one, he’s ready with bells on to help you take advantage of that open bar.

15. He knows you better than you know yourself.

Through thick and thin, he is your rock, and he knows every inch of your character. He knows what you’re going to do before you do it, what you’re going to say before you say it. There’s nothing he can’t fix; he can really do no wrong. He’s your BFF for a reason, and he’ll be there right ’til the very end.
