15 Uncommon Ways to Treat Yourself When You Feel Like Giving Up

Most of us have been in that period of life when we’re tired of being adults. And what I really mean by that is we get tired of living and just want to give up.

Though life can be a b*tch, it’s not hopeless. There are many ways to bounce back and fall in love with your life again. And the best ways are the oddest ones:

  1. Wear your favorite costume for a day…because it’ll make you feel like a kid again. You can go bar hopping and stuff. Plus, no one will remember you…hopefully.
  2. Spend the whole day doing nothing. We all love to be productive, but we also need a break which is why it helps to give yourself a day to do absolutely nothing. You’d be surprised by how much your brain clears up.
  3. Celebrate your birthday for a month…especially when you’re not that kind of person. Whether it’s having a get together every weekend or going to amusement parks for a week, celebrating yourself for a month can help you learn how to make it a habit.
  4. Dance while working out. It could be as complex as doing the running man on the treadmill or as simple as nodding your head to the beat while doing push ups. Either way, it gives you an extra boost of motivation.
  5. Sing aloud your favorite songs in the morning…yes, even when your roommates are there.
  6. Do happy hour with friends…and go all out with it. Treat yourself to a nice bar and order a hot plate with cold drink or two or five.
  7. Make out with a stranger…and I’m not saying take some random stranger and make out with them cause that looks a bit desperate. Take a chance and get to know someone you’re attracted to and when the opportunity comes, make out with them.
  8. Complete your to-do list without break…and when you get the urge to procrastinate, remind yourself of the award which for most of us is Netflix.
  9. Speak in a different accent…because it’s just a really fun thing to do. Weird, but fun. Even better are people’s reactions.
  10. Buy yourself really nice clothes. Not just good clothes, amazing clothes. Clothes that make you feel like Beyonce.
  11. Stuff your face with dessert without apology. Allow yourself the luxury of eating things that bloat your stomach because boy, is it relaxing.
  12. Do cartwheels across a park or a bridge…because there’s nothing more liberating than a cartwheel and doing it in public places is just the tip of the iceberg.
  13. Blow a kiss to your barista when you get your coffee…and mentally prepare yourself for their reactions. Good or bad, you’ve made their day.
  14. Take a road trip by yourself. Spend time with yourself across the country. It gives you the opportunity to get to know new people.
  15. Surprise your favorite family members with a visit…because you’d be surprised at how much they’ve missed you. It helps to show them how much you appreciate them.
