Whenever I’m not in New York and I get dressed for the day, there’s always at least one person who manages to comment on my all black outfit: you are so New York. What’s up with that?
Sure, lots of New York women wear all black but it’s more than just a characteristic of the city; it’s a representation on the type of gal you really are.
And I’m not talking about the “goth??? girl with chains, spikes, black nail polish, and black lipstick. I’m talking about a woman who has a diverse wardrobe in terms of style, but when it comes to color? All black errrthang:
- You look chic and classic all the time.
- Being asked if you’re going to a funeral is old.
- You’ve mastered the art of color popping: lipstick, nail polish, necklace…
- You never fear clashing.
- Nothing will ever be “the new black.???
- Black is “the new black.???
- Your closet is made up of an array of fabrics: cotton, leather, lace, spandex, fur, sequins…
- You don’t do brown or navy.
- You just don’t.
- You’re prepared for any social situation at any given time…
- Because the transition from day to night is as simple as throwing on some lipstick.
- It’s always an appropriate time to wear black.
- You will never be that girl wearing white pants after Labor Day.
- Everything comes in black. Everything.
- You’ve tried buying colors before…
- You’ve been actively optimistic going into a store saying, I’m gonna buy something yellow!
- But you leave with a black crop top, a pair of black leather spandex, and black lacey shorts.
- Hey, you tried.
- People are intimidated by you because all-black is nothing but fierce.
- And some people may think you’re boring…
- But really you’re just smart and efficient because black will always be in.
- You don’t necessarily divulge everything about yourself right away with new people.
- You take some getting to know.
- There’s always an element of mystery to you.
- At the end of the day, you are bold and you get shit done.
- Basically, a girl who wears all black everything means business.
