3. You learn to empathise.
If your friends are cold towards you, if your siblings pick a fight, if your significant other makes a snide comment, you understand that their anger and frustration isn’t meant to be directed towards you. They are annoyed and frustrated at external entities and you are something they can lash out at in order vent that anger. Don’t get mad, don’t act back, that will just escalate the problem and fan the flames. You can be that person they can communicate with, and that’s far more valuable than being their sparring partner.
4. You’re no longer a victim.
No one is out to get you; you aren’t the center of a global conspiracy in which you are the target; you are just another individual trying to get on with their shit. When you know all eyes aren’t focused on you and people aren’t plotting your downfall, you’re free to do what you like and get on with it, and that makes life breezy.
5. You can brush off a bad day.
We all have them: the alarm doesn’t go off, your car won’t start, your boss is a prick, you have to eat lunch last, you stay late and then you still get stuck in traffic. Fuck the world and everyone in it. But you know that sentiment doesn’t get you anywhere. Tomorrow will be better, and all the fuck ups of today are just everyday annoyances that everyone has to deal with every now and then.
