9 Easy Practices to Start Your Day Off on the Right Foot

Mornings set the tone for the entire day. It’s important to have a morning routine that gets you in the right state of mind, body and spirit

Try these nine practices for a healthier more prosperous day:

1. Rise with the sun. Not being in harmony with natural rhythms of the sun and moon can cause harm in the body. Studies suggest that naps during the day do not equate to the sleep you get at night. Try to hit the hay between 9-11pm and get up as early as possible. This will give you more time to do what you gotta do during the day and room for what you typically say you don’t have time for  (i.e. yoga and meditation).


2. Name 5 things you are grateful for. Start the day off with this powerful gratitude practice. The more good you can highlight in your life, the more good will come. Be thankful for everything – big and small. Practice your attitude of gratitude throughout the day and notice the shifts in your life.


3. Bed yoga. If you’re feeling lazy or a bit sluggish, check out these awesome yoga poses you can do in bed. Even a few simple stretches can get the blood and energy moving in the body and start you off on the right foot.


4. Meditation. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – START A MEDITATION PRACTICE! Clear your mind, start fresh, stay healthy – point blank.


5. Tell someone you love ‘em – Grab someone in your home, anyone, and give them a big squeeze. Tell them they are loved and appreciated. You will both feel the benefits.


6. Down a glass of warm water. Many physiological processes in the body begin with hydrating with H2O. Drink a large glass of water every morning to cleanse, detox and transport nutrients to all your cells.


7. Make a list of goals for the day. State some clear goals to accomplish for the day. That way, you are more likely to accomplish them. This is a major prerequisite for being successful – you can’t accomplish goals if you don’t know what they are.


8. Drink some hot tea.

Many health experts believe the first thing that should ingest in the morning should be warm liquid. This is ideal for breaking your approx. 12 hour fast from the night before and to get your digestive fire going. Drinking green or matcha tea are great ways to get an energy boost without the jitters that often come with drinking coffee. Try a squeeze of lime or lemon and raw organic honey for some added health benefits.


9. 

Expect good things.

Be open to the possibility that you will have the best day of your life. Know that your day will be filled with blessings, love, and abundance – make it happen. Another way of saying this is ‘think positive’.
