Body Hair? Try an IPL Device
Body hair is practically the bane of our existence. It’s utterly exhausting having to shave day after day after day. And don’t even get us started on how often shaving doesn’t last through the day or you find a missed spot halfway through your day. There’s got to be an easier way!
Of course, you can go with other types of hair removal like waxing, plucking, threading, or even depilatory creams. Some of those methods can be quite painful and some of them seem to be utterly ineffective at times.
Have you tried an IPL Device yet? This is another solution that just may be one of the best ways to remove unwanted hair.
What is IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. This treatment option requires an IPL device that is designed to use light to remove hair. This light can also be used for far more than just removing hair. IPL devices can also treat wrinkles, age spots, birthmarks, varicose veins, and even rosacea. These devices are multi-functional.
You can use an IPL for unwanted hair in multiple areas of your body. This means that IPL can work on legs, underarms, chest, neck, back, bikini lines, and even your face. It’s also effective for your back and neck. That pretty much covers just about any area of your body that might have unwanted hair.
Laser and IPL treatments can be quite similar but they are also uniquely different.
Laser Treatment vs. IPL
But wait, isn’t laser hair removal better than IPL? One might think that laser treatment is the best form of hair removal but IPL certainly holds its own when you consider all of the facts regarding both.
Here’s the thing, laser hair removal can be quite harsh on your budget. You typically must return for several laser treatments and each treatment has a set cost. Laser treatments are intended for a specific small area to be treated at one time.
Both hair removal treatments use light to basically kill or stun the hair follicle in order to prevent it from growing. However, they use two different forms of light. IPL uses an intense pulsing light. This light is absorbed by colored hairs over your body.
The upside to IPL treatment is that the light is not as harsh on your skin, it does not penetrate as deeply as laser treatment does. However, IPL is most effective on dark or thick hair because of this.
IPL is much more affordable than laser treatment if you feel that this may be the best option for you. It can be used in large areas, small areas. Additionally, you can purchase an IPL device to use at your home or you can choose to go have an IPL treatment at a salon. The choice is yours, either way, you will save some money for the process, but be careful which salon or device to choose.
Also, be aware that a home device may require you to use it more times to see the results you want. These are not quite as intense as professional treatments but they will get the job done.
Both of these are functional options for hair removal techniques. If you need a more affordable solution, we recommend trying an IPL device first.
What to Expect
It is possible that you will experience some side effects from the use of an IPL device. These side effects can be true of both professional and at-home treatment.
The most common effect is some redness or swelling that typically resolves itself within a day or two. However, there have also been reported cases of bruising, skin tone changes, blistering, and infection.
Your skin will certainly be sensitive after treatment but you should be able to go about your life as normal with regular activity and no restrictions. Be careful with your skin as it will be sensitive, the sensitivity is comparable to that of a sunburn.
If you’re questioning whether IPL will really work, the answer is yes. It may take some patience and effort but you will certainly see results and you can toss out the wax!
