10 Tips To Improve Your Self Care Habits

If you're anything like me you have A LOT on your plate.

Between an SO, a step-child, a full time job, blogging, running errands, doing housework, you name it, I tend to put myself on the back burner.

You feel like you constantly have to be working on something in order to get ahead. You feel like your loved ones come first and you hate to miss out on quality time with them.

What we're forgetting is that you, your family, and your friends need the best version of yourself to make your relationship and life the best it can be.

It's not selfish taking time on yourself and your needs.

1. Set Up A Budget.

Yes, budgeting is hard especially when Just Fab is exploding your email with great deals. I know. But, not having all the money for your mortgage, your rent, your car payment, or your water bill is NOT fun. Put first things first, save for a rainy day, then if you have a little extra spend it on you! Setting up a budget can make that money stresses feel a little less so.

2. Wake Up Early.

Skip the snooze. Once you're up you're up! Instead of rushing to get everything done in the morning. Take your time. You're day will feel a lot less stressed by that extra 30 minutes to an hour you set aside.

3. Find 'Me Time'

Whether you find time in the morning to do a work out, take a brisk walk with the dogs, ride a bike, or hike a mountain. Don't look at getting exercise as something you dread doing. Look at it as something you need to be the best version of yourself. Look at it as 1 hour of your day that is all yours.

Do something that you need to do yourself. I've found myself going to the grocery story alone actually is more of a getaway rather than a chore.

4. Choose your Thoughts.

Whatever is causing you to feel insecure, feel inadequate, or making you constantly stress. Let go of these thoughts. It's important for yourself to be filling yourself with positive thoughts, quotes, and self love on the daily.

5. Prioritize Goals Over Comfort

If your only goal is to fold the laundry- fold it before you plop yourself of the couch.

If your goal is to workout 45 minutes before you go to work in the morning, go to bed early and wake up early. Plan that you are dedicating this time to yourself to better yourself.

6. Drink Water

I am horrible at drinking water. Coffee has water in it right? I hate the feeling of constantly peeing from drinking water. It's essential to our health and I guarantee you will make you feel better throughout your day, make you feel less bloated, and a happier version of yourself.

Buy yourself a 32oz to carry around anywhere and fill it up. If you hate the taste of water use lemon, cucumber, or a crystal light to make it taste better.

7. Eat Better

I don't mean fill your plate with only veggies. Proportion your meals and eat in moderation. Fill your body with essential nutrients you can get from the earth, eat your protein, but also make sure you have at least one pleasure a day, if you need. That can be as simple as one piece from a chocolate bar.

8. Take A Bath.

Run a bath. Grab a book. Light some candles. Pour a Mimosa. Relax.

9. Focus On Living Healthier Not Losing Weight

I always get so consumed in losing weight I forget why I'm doing it. I forget the need for eating healthier other than it will make me loose another pound. I forgot how it will make me feel rather than what the outcome of my diet will be. Lose weight for your ultimate health and the energy it gives you.

10. Read Bogs.

Okay, read anything. Giving yourself inspiration on a daily whether that be my daily blogs on my Facebook page or a good book by JoJo Meyers to curl up to read. Just expand your mind and learn something new each day. Your brain will thank you.
