I love books. I've always love books.
Maybe it's because when I was young I'd fall asleep every night while my dad read Harry Potter to me, or maybe it's because my grandma and I would spend a lot of our afternoons reading or browsing the library.
Whatever the reason, all I know is that I love books. I'm not the only one in the world who adores books, so here are 20 things all book lovers will understand.
1. Nothing gets you more excited than a new book.
2. Well, bookstores get you pretty excited, too!
3. The best smell is the smell of books. Their paper, ink, binding…everything. It's the Best. Smell. Ever.
4. There's a strange attachment we feel to characters, and when something bad happens to them, we literally feel it.
5. If someone badmouths our favorite author/book, we are very defensive. And offended.
6. Your dream is to have an in-home library.
7. There's never a wrong time to read.
8. Books cover your bedroom. Like, literally everywhere.
9. "Have you really read all of these?" – #1 question people ask.
10. Most people can overlook dog-earing books, but we can't overlook writing on the pages.
11. If we lend you a book and you never give it back, we'll remember. For. Ever.
12. Saying "I read the book first," after seeing a movie. But not for any pretentious or hipster reason other than you just wanted to read the book first.
13. Also, the book is always better.
14. People are amazed at your diverse book collection.
15. Everyone knows who to go to for book advice.
16. And they all know what to get you for your birthday, Christmas, ect.
17. There's no limit on the amount of times you can re-read a book or series.
18. Sure, iBooks/Kindles are great in their own ways, and they are beneficial in their own ways, too. But, there's nothing quite like reading a real book.
19. You get overwhelmingly excited when a non-reader asks you what they should read. And they actually read (and finish) what you recommend.
20. Books are a way to live a thousand lives, love a thousand people, experience more than a thousand things, and never leave the comfort of your home.
