One day I’ll walk down the aisle wearing a beautiful white dress, a smile spreading across my face that will melt hearts. But it’s at you that I’m smiling, your eyes locked on me, waiting at the altar. Looking so beyond handsome in your tux, you’ll smile right back at me.
It’s a short walk from me to you, but once I get there, our lives will be changed forever.
Getting married takes only a few hours, but marriage lasts a lifetime. I can’t say that we’ll forever feel as happy as we will on that day, but I can promise you this:
1. I’ll never try to change you. I love you for who you are and would never do anything make you any less or different.
2. To pick my battles carefully, and to enter each argument with a rational mind.
3. Because our time together on the earth is too short to fight and feel bad about things that ultimately will never matter.
4. Never will I hold you back from anything you want to accomplish.
5. You were put here to grow, and I will never be the person who gets in the way of that.
6. To always give you my best self, you deserve that.
7. I’ll never give up on myself or stop growing and learning.
6. Not a day will pass that I won’t make time for you.
7. And I’ll always listen when you need me to.
8. I’ll be here for you forever and a day.
8. Never will I ever betray you or your trust in any way.
9. To always find joy in the little things.
10. And to appreciate the way you smile at me from across the room, and the way your fingers feel wrapped around mine.
11. I’ll always be attracted to you, because eyes never age, and I could stare into yours forever.
12. You’ll never have to do something you truly don’t want to do.
13. I love you and respect you enough to not force you into anything.
14. Unless it’s taking out the trash, because no one wants to do that, but somebody’s got to.
15. Even at your worst, I’ll give you my best.
16. I’ll never hold onto my anger or hold a grudge.
17. We’ll have inevitable disagreements, but I promise to let that anger go so we can move forward and be happy.
18. Laughter will be abundant in our worlds, I’ll make sure of it.
19. I’ll keep my adventurous side alive and make sure our relationship stays exciting.
20. To respect your family, because they’re the people that made you, the person I love with my whole heart.
21. Not a day will go by that I won’t feel endlessly grateful for you, my person, my forever love, my future husband.
