… And nothing. I mean, come on. I get that the job-hunting process takes weeks, even a month or two, but I mean come on! At least give me a rejection letter or something. At least let me know that you were not interested.
You see, I have looking for a better job since last September, when I hit rock bottom (you find that story on my profile). Ever since, I have had this part-time job that pays good, but you don’t get very much hours. You can request extra days, but you cannot go over the limit for the amount of hours you can work a week as a part timer.
It sucks. It sucks so much. I know I can be picky but recently I told myself, fuck it, take whatever is given to you. You just need to make money. Which I have, I have applied for everything and anything.
I recently got interviewed for front desk receptionist at a hotel. The interview went great; they were pleased to see that I had experience in customer service. It went so well that they made it seem like I had gotten the job. However, it has been two weeks about and I have heard nothing. I’ve even called and gotten the response:
“We’ll let you know.???
We’ll let you know? What response is that? They were all like,
“As soon as you start we will train you how to use to programs. We will train you in everything that you need to learn.???
I was like YES! Finally, another job so that I can stop worrying about not being able to pay my bills each moth. NOPE! I was completely wrong.
Look. If you are interviewing people and see that they do not fit your criteria. Don’t just let them assume they might get the job. It’s the worse feeling thinking you have something but in reality you fucking don’t.
I believe that you need to be as generic as possible.
“We’ll give you a call.???
And do it. Give the poor person a call. Give them a letter. Let them know YES! You got the job or no you didn’t. There is nothing worse than assuming you have the fucking job!
42 jobs later, well now 43, and still waiting, fingers crossed, that I get a call real soon. Nothing would make me feel better as getting a second part-time job or getting a nice full time job with excellent pay. (Psst. I hope it’s the library one!)
