If you haven’t heard about Tyrion Lannister, then you were either living in a solitary confinement for this past eight years or you are hearing impaired (because I can’t muster up any other plausible explanation).

Anyway, Tyrion Lannister is the youngest son of Tywin, Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of West, and Joanna in the A Song of Ice and Fire novel series and Game of Thrones TV series, based on the novels. Often referred to as ‘The Halfman’ or ‘The Imp’, Tyrion is one of the most beloved characters of the modern day television.

Tyrion Lannister is played by the brilliant American actor Peter Dinklage, who has won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Tyrion. Married to theatre director Erica Schmidt since 2005, Dinklage first came to the public attention for his role in comedy-drama film The Station Agent in 2003.

Witty, people person, sarcastic, intellectual, and oh a dwarf, he is one of the most unusual protagonists, who teaches us many valuable life lessons. So here is the list of five things we can learn from Tyrion Lannister.

1. Count your blessings.
Everyone has their own sets of strengths and weakness, so does Tyrion Lannister. He is blessed with an intelligent mind and great interpersonal skills. What he isn’t blessed with is the ability to slay hundreds of man and a height. However, he doesn’t complain.

He is at peace with what he has and doesn’t have, and so should we. Therefore, next time, you complain about what you don’t have, why don’t you instead focus on what you have?

2. Show kindness to others.
Tyrion Lannister has proclaimed in various occasions that he has a tender spot in his heart for cripples, bastards and broken things and so should we minus all those offensive languages because a word of compassion and an act of kindness can really make a difference in the less privileged lives.

3. Stand tall with your actions.
How many times do I have to repeat it? Yes, he is a dwarf but it doesn’t mean that he cannot stand as tall as others. In fact, he has stood tall on many occasions and taught us a very valuable lesson. It’s the action that determines and defines you; not your height.

4. Don’t kiss ass.

Remember the scene when Tyrion Lannister meets the Khaleesi and she asks him to be her advisor? If yes, then you definitely remember him saying that he would judge her before he chooses to advise her.

Now, who would in his right mind, risk incensing the Mother of Dragons saying he would judge her before he offers his service? No one but Tyrion Lannister. What can we learn? Well, for a starter, don’t grovel and be obsequious whether it’s royalty or any other.

5. Enjoy life to the fullest.
When he is not being sarcastic, advising Khaleesi or strategizing, he is drinking or having sex. Those are Tyrion’s pleasures. It’s half of the reasons, I like him as a character.

He doesn’t give a damn about the world and he is always enjoying whenever there’s any opportunity to do so (or was enjoying at the early seasons of the series). Well, I don’t mean that we get wasted at every opportunity but simply to enjoy and live the life.
