6 Annoying Ways You're Killing Your Image on Social Media

Social media websites, whether it be Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or another platform, are all great ways to keep up with the latest events in your social groups. But the downside is that it also makes it easy to make a fool out of yourself. Your pristine image may be affected by the posts you make if you’re not being wise about them.

Here are some reasons you’re killing your image on social media:

1) You post all the time.

Seriously, do you have a life? When I refresh my newsfeed, there’s also a new post from you. Whether you’re out hiking or eating a bowl of cereal, you’re making sure it’s out there. People are definitely thinking you don’t have much else to do if you’re so active on Facebook.

2) You like to use social media to air your dirty laundry.

Had a messy breakup with someone? That sucks, but please don’t air the dirty laundry all over the internet. It makes you look petty, immature, and desperate for attention. No need to let the world know and involve others in the drama. Seriously, it never makes anything better.

3) You use your social media page as a promotion page.

We get that the hustle is real. But as your Facebook friend, I’d rather see you post about more than just your small business. Seriously, I don’t need to hear about every promotion your restaurant is having. It just makes you annoying and someone that people won’t want to approach for non-business conversation. Create a separate page for your company so friends don’t have to subscribe to the latest updates of your business when they add you on Facebook.

4) You post too many selfies.

This is going to make it look like you have an ego. Switch it up and post photos of interesting content or photos of you actually doing something cool. Maybe even try posting some photos that don’t even include you in them.

5) You’re ridiculously negative.

When your posts all seem to be about how your life sucks and that people suck, you really drive people away. It’s draining to be around people that are always full of negativity. Complaining about your day, how you’re alone, and how you’re unhappy is just going to make people think you need attention. Your diary and social media are not the same.

6) You invite me to every event.

No need to send me a Facebook event invite for a festival in California when I live on the other side of the country. Spamming people with invites that probably don’t interest them are just going to make you look annoying.
