“Ohhh you’re a twin. Do you guys look alike?”
No. We do not. It’s called ‘Fraternal Twins’.
I have a twin sister who doesn’t look like me and I’m glad. We get to be seperate people and not get people confused all the time. Sometimes I wish we did look alike just for the whole fact of Sister Sister and switch classrooms when we were in school. Anyways, not the point.
I’m brunette. She’s blonde. She’s taller than me but I’m older. We’re both outgoing and independent but still desperately need the other one. She is a huge part of my life and vice versa. There are some things to know before dating a girl who has a twin sister:
1. She will always be in my life and right by my side.
We’ve been together since the womb, so it makes sense for us to naturally cling to one another. Most sisters don’t get a long all the time but not us. She’s my best friend and always will be. I will go to her for everything, and I mean everything. We know things about each other that no one else does and we expect you to understand that.
2. We know how to share.
Hell, we’ve been doing it our whole lives. We know how to share a lot…feelings, ideas, information, clothes, etc. So, we won’t be afraid to do the same with you.
3. We might be insecure around each other.
Yes I know… How could I be insecure about my own sister? It happens. Especially since we don’t look the same.. it’s another girl to add to the list. So, realize that if you see our sister and immediately think she’s hot or beautiful. Don’t tell us. Don’t compare us. Like I said, we are different people. Different personalities and you obviously picked us for a reason.
4. If you break my heart. You’ve technically broken hers, too.
Anyone I hate or go through a rough patch with, she will agree with me. No changing her mind. So, be careful what you do before you do it.
Now, instead of just having one person in the family hate you, it’s twice as much.
5. Like number one, she will always be around.
She will technically be the third wheel. Or suggest we double date. Get use to it. She will be my kids Aunt, she will probably be living near me when I’m older and that won’t ever change. You better like her and get along with her because if you don’t she’s not going to be the one who’s gone. You will be.
6. She is my rock.
When you’re not there. She will be. She has always been there through everything and I mean everything. She knows how to comfort me and has been for a long time. She’s independent and has always been someone I’ve looked up to. So, don’t take it the wrong way if we turn to her and not you.
I can’t explain it, having a twin but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
