Everyone gets those moments where they feel like organizing, or where they feel like tidying up the whole house, or kicks of energy…
But then there are people who are just naturally very organized and seem to have a place for everything and are always on top of their game…
The people who are “Type A.” They know it, they own it, it’s part of them- it’s what makes them, them. And although some people just can’t understand how we work, Type A’s just have it in them.
These traits just seem to be embedded. In fact, most Type A’s exhibit these same “embedded” traits: most of which drive people off the walls… But if you’re anything like me, you say you’re a “Type A” proudly and definitely do these things!
-
You’re meticulous and organized… Besides just having a place for everything and excessively cleaning, you’re also so particular about where things go and why. You’re always making sure that things are put away in their place, and you’re clean and tidy. You can always find your stuff thanks to your excessive need for organization, and people feel like they’re going into a museum when they go into your house because there isn’t a spec of dirt, or anything out of place.
-
You get things done right away… In order to make sure that you don’t have anything on your plate for later, you get it done then and there. Dirty dish? It goes right in the sink. Floors need to be mopped? Done within the hour. Your motto is: “Why wait til tomorrow what you can do today.”
-
You’re a planner…Whether it’s a friend’s birthday party or it’s just your “to-do” list of the week, you make sure it’s written down and followed to the T. You take the time to make sure that everything is written down and that nothing is double booked…
-
You write down everything and write it down several times… Calendars, agenda books/planners, phone calendars, post-its… You name it, we write it down there. We have them, and you bet we made sure to double check it. We want to make sure we got it right.
-
People call you “Monica” from Friends… If you’ve watched Friends before, you know that everyone has a behavior so stereotypical to them, and you can reference that behavior to a character. But everyone knows Monica– the clean, organized, classic Type A freak. I know that I, myself, have often been called the “Monica” of my family and friends, as I act so much like her.
-
You’re early to everything…You have to be at least 10 minutes early to everything, otherwise you feel that you’re late to said event. What other people consider early or on time is something you convince yourself is late. If only everyone worked around Type A time…
- You KNOW you’re Type A… You say it, you accept it, you label yourself this. It’s just a part of your personality, and, well, you’ve taken it to being what makes you YOU. Type A’s accept who they are, and use their positive qualities to their advantage. Being able to accept part of your personality is also what makes you more likely to engage in those behaviors, so own it!
You LOVE to plan and it gives you a rush. In fact, you likely know what you’re doing 2 months from now because you wrote it down in efforts to make sure you have time for everything. You probably even heard once or twice that you could go into a party-planning business.
