7 Types of Guys to Look Out For on a First Date

Whether you met on Tinder or in a coffee shop….let’s face it; it was probably by Tinder… College is a time to meet new guys and experiment with dating. Here are the types of guys you should probably watch out for.

1. The Eager Beaver… If the guy you’re dating is a tad too excited to be with you, without getting to know you first, then he may be infatuated with the idea of being with someone instead of you.

Or he just wants to get in your pants. Either way, watch out for this guy. He’ll say all the right things to you, but then you’ll find him saying the same things to some other girl on your floor the next day.

2. The Shady Behavior… If your guy takes private phone calls, or gets jumpy when you look over his shoulder, then he might be dating more than one person.

Dating is such a loose term these days; especially in college where dating is so casual. Make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.

3. The Meany… Everybody likes good banter, but for a first date? If he is putting you down or teasing you minutes into meeting you, then this might be a sign to run.

Usually, people are polite and want to make a good first impression, but if they’re teasing you already, imagine what happens when you two start getting comfortable around one another.

4. The Talker vs Listener… While he might be nervous, make sure there's a balanced talking to listening ratio.

If he keeps talking and talking and talking, he might be a tad full of himself. Make sure he asks about you as well! On the other side of the spectrum, if he’s too quiet, don’t try to force anything.

5. The Ex Mention-er… How many times does he bring up his ex-girlfriend….on a first date? If he does, then you might want to get the check. He’s either not over his ex, or he’s bitter. Either way, he’s not the guy for you.

6. The Douche Viber… We’ve all seen the guy who is the “classic douche.” He has the shirtless selfies on Snapchat and Tinder.

He’s always seen with groups of loud guys, and he’s just straight up rude. Stay away from this guy, and swipe left.

7. The (Obvious) One Night Stand… One night stands are part of college. It’s certainly not The Notebook love story we all want, but it does happen.

But if you’re not comfortable doing that on a first date, don’t feel like you have to do anything. If a guy pressures you or doesn’t text you back because you weren’t comfortable with casual sex, then that’s the guy’s problem, not yours.
