Everyone loves to have a good time, day or night. But who says your good time HAS to happen at night? Who says you can’t start the night early? The best drinking is always done during the day. Here are some reasons why:
1. You have enough time to nap before you go out that night
I know everytime I day drink, there is always a mid-day nap headed my way. Let’s say it’s a Saturday after a tailgate. I take a nap, wake up with a second wind and start drinking again. It prepares you for the night ahead…well, as long as you aren’t hungover from how much you had during the day…SOS.
2. The drinking happens before any event, inevitably making you excited about it
During college (when you’re 21 of course…), mid-day drinking before class/night class makes it that much bearable.
3. They have a time for it, it’s called ‘Happy Hour’
Happy Hour is there for a reason, mainly for those 5-9 workers after a long day. So it’s not just acceptable in college, but also in the real world. Trust me, having a full-time job…the hours between four and six are your friend!
4. It’s the ultimate pregame before the pregame
Let’s say you’re going to an awkward pregame before going out, why not start earlier to prepare yourself? It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and you will be the right kind of buzzed before going to the ACTUAL pregame. Or a football game for instance…they call it tailgating for a reason. Drinking before the game so you don’t have to spend all of your money at the stadium and you have an excuse to wake up early and cheer on your team.
5. Tailgate Season
Enough said.
6. Sunday Funday
They had to make Sunday a fun-day somehow… and what’s a better way then with drinking?
7. On weekends, that’s usually when bar specials are happening
A lot of colleges take advantage of this. Why? Well, because day drinking isn’t the same without it’s ‘specials’ and college kids are broke.
8. There’s a reason they serve mimosas at brunch
Orange juice and Champagne? Count me in! Before 11 a.m.? EVEN BETTER!
9. As Jimmy Buffett would say: “It’s five o’clock somewhere!”
Next time you question if it is acceptable to drink at a certain hour, just remember what Jimmy would say.
