1. Be patient with me and especially with my heart.
I'm not always easy to love. I can be clingy and needy because I'm so afraid of losing you like I've lost others. Be patient, even the broken ones like me will relax eventually.
2. Ask me if I'm okay, even if you're too tired to talk.
I tend to hold my feelings inside, bottled up and waiting to explode. I get quiet when I have a lot on my mind. And I know you work long hours and you're tired, but show me you care about me by listening with an open heart.
3. Be the one person to put my mind at ease.
I've been hurt. I gave someone my all and they stepped on it. I may ask if you still love me once (or fifty times) a day, but please bear with me and remind me that you do.
4. Be my backbone when I'm not strong enough.
Life can really knock me off my feet sometimes and I need you to be there to break my fall and help me piece myself back together after. I promise I'll be that person for you too.
5. Love me when you're angry and I promise to do the same.
We will fight. A lot. We will have hard times. There will be angry nights. I still want you through everything, so work with me.
6. Always make time for me and save a kiss for me before bed.
We will both have to work hard to get what we want in life. We'll be forced to spend time apart, so hold me tight when we're together, even if it's only for 5 minutes before you leave for work.
7. Never give up on our love.
Times can feel hopeless, but remember that love brought us together for a reason and it has the power to keep us together. Roll with the punches with me.
