For some reason we think Christmas traditions are just for families, but we happen to be wrong. Whether your single, in committed relationship, or just obsessed with your squad, yo can still carry on holiday traditions. If you’re looking for some ideas to start, here they are!
For the single lady…
Watch a movie each night before Christmas.
Wear Christmas socks all December long.
Donate food to a local food bank.
Make a Christmas countdown.
Start a Christmas diary.
- Write down how your year has been and what you hope next year will bring. Then keep up with it every year!
“Jingle??? one of your neighbors.
- Put a bag of gifts together, leave it on a neighbor’s doorstep with a sign that reads: “You’ve been jingled!??? The idea is to pass it around the whole neighborhood.
Put up the tree Dec. 1st.
Go to the community Christmas Tree lighting in your neighborhood.
For the honeymooning couple…
Volunteer at a homeless shelter together.
See a holiday movie in theaters Christmas Eve.
- If you don’t have family in the area, this can be a great way to spend Christmas Eve.
Give each other an ornament to commemorate the past year.
Gift each other a gift card to a place you want to go the following year.
- Like to a zip-line place, amusement park, or rock climbing!
Go to a Christmas concert.
- You can see Trans-Siberian Orchestra or your local winter festival!
For the close knit friends…
Host a cookie exchange.

Have a gingerbread house making contest.

- Sit in front of the fireplace, roast marshmallows, and drink hot cocoa

Order take-out for one of the “big meals.???
- Instead of stressing over two big meals back to back (Christmas Eve & Day) , order take-out!
Have a White Elephant or Secret Santa.
- Keep costs down and fun up by buying for only one of your bffs each year!
Play Christmas Bingo.
For the whole family…
The elf on the shelf.
- Set him (or her) up in different positions for the kids to find. He can be naughty or nice!
Drive around for neighborhood lights.
Open one gift on Christmas Eve.
Make a holiday craft.
- It could be ornaments, headbands, or stockings!
Track Santa on NORAD Christmas Eve.
Buy the whole family matching PJs.
