Dear Millennials, Just Do Better

Life comes at you fast after college.  I understand that all too well.  However, more and more these days I'm running into "kids" after college who just literally can't even with their new role as an adult in the big scary world.

Initially, I feel bad for these kids.  For these souls who have just been crushed with crippling student loan debt, bills their parents have been carrying, and an even worse rent payment on a 1 bedroom suite in their favorite city.

I think "aww..I remember how hard that was.  It'll get better, sweetie."  But then I realize that isn't necessarily true.  I remember I had to pick my ass up, wipe my tears, and prove myself in the world before it got better.

I had to work my ass off to get where I am, and I am so much better off because of it.

And I hope you all will too.

I hope you're all going to be the ones that it make it better for the next generation, not worse.

I hope you realize how much pressure is on us to make the world a better place right now.  I hope you take that seriously.  I hope you love others as much as yourself.  And even if you don't, I hope you respect people's differences.

I hope you're independent as hell.  I hope you travel often.  I hope you know exactly who the f*ck you are.  I hope you learn early on not to take anyone's shit.

I hope focus on your grind, not your social media.

Focus on your mapping out your next move, not contouring your face.

Focus on what you want in a real relationship, not mindlessly scrolling through dating apps so you don't have to be alone.

I see your tears.  I feel your pain.  I've been where you are now, trying to figure it out all out.  It will get better.  But only when you put in the effort to make it that way.

So be the ones that make the big moves.

Be the ones that inspire and create like never before.

Get off your damn phones (after you read this, of course) and go make something. It doesn't matter what, just make it real and make it yours.

Find a passion and never stop.

Find a mentor.  Find as many people as you can to learn from.  They'll either help you climb or help you learn, either way it won't be a waste of time.

I hope you invest in people along your journey.  I hope you let the ones go that aren't worth it.  But even more so, I hope you're strong enough to know the difference.

You can do this, girl.  Whatever you're going through now, get up, get to work, and kick some ass for a while.  You'll thank me later.
