Before a hurricane, it is a necessity to acquire a first aid kit. The first aid kit will be useful if there is any form of injury. It is also important you stock your emergency survival kit. These consist foods, water, flashlights, etc.

Ensure you trim the trees around your surroundings, clean the gutters and downspouts to help prevent misdirected flooding and build a safe room for your valuable items.

One of the crucial things you need to know before a hurricane is all directions that leads to an emergency exit. It is essential, and it should be your priority if you want to scale through the wrath of a hurricane.

DURING A HURRICANE

During a hurricane, it is advisable that you remain indoors. At this point, evacuation is not advisable because the violent storm can cause you a lot of harm.

You are to switch off all electrical gadgets, gases and other appliances that can easily cause fire outbreak in the house.

Never make use of candles, it is hazardous, that is why it is a requirement to acquire a flashlight before the storm.

Close your doors and lay down on the floor to avoid being hit by any flying object and try to be updated with the happenings around that city.

AFTER A HURRICANE

After a hurricane, do not be carried away that you made it past the violent storm, you just need to be more careful because there might be some dangerous objects in the environment such as broken bottles, nails, drowned drainage and other hazards that was created by the hurricane.

It is important you administer first aid if there is an injury, get rid of food items that have been exposed to floodwater, stay away from flooded areas and survey your environment for any damage.

if you can abide by this little principle, you are going to survive a  hurricane.
