I Am Not A Morning Person

If you are happily reading this between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 a.m., this is not the article for you. Let us face it: sleep is the best thing to ever happen to a person. These are solid facts, people. So, if you think mornings are a hellish gift sent straight from Satan himself, keep reading.

First of all, if you are not a morning person, the alarms set on your phone most likely look like this; 7:25, 7:30, 7:35, 7:40, and so on just so you wake up in time for your 8 a.m class. You have probably mastered the art of getting ready in 10 minutes so you can experience the preciousness of sleep for as long as possible. This means you most likely jump out of bed, throw your hair up in a bun and grab the first shirt and pair of pants you see and run out the door.

Speaking of getting up, people maybe afraid to wake you up. This is a legitimate fear for people. Growing up my sister let me sleep through the school bus, family events, and friends knocking on the door simply because she did not want to risk waking me up. I do not mean to turn into a homicidal maniac when I get woken up, but I tend to kick, punch and sometimes even bite when my covers are torn off of me and I am violently shaken awake. We non-morning people should have to post a sign on our doors that reads “Caution, violent when woken up”.

Up next, coffee. Oh, sweet, sweet coffee. Where do I begin to express my love for you? You are the only thing that keeps me going and stops me from biting everyone’s head off on a daily basis. You lift me up when I just want to go back to sleep. You are my savior on Mondays and well every day of the week actually. If it were legal to marry coffee, I would have done so five times by now. My love for coffee is eternal.

Therefore, if any of you early birds are reading this now, maybe you can understand just how night owls’ minds work. In addition, to all you night owls out there, keep doing you and remember to drink plenty of coffee. There is many things in life you can have too much of, but sleep and coffee are neither of those things.
