Here’s the naked truth: sexting is totally normal.
Cell phones are these tiny (maybe not the iPhone 7+) incredible devices that serve as our social directors, calendars, diaries, accountants, and more. They’re essentially portable porn albums, too. How many times have you looked at someone’s phone and their pictures while being told “don’t swipe right?” Yeah, that’s because they don’t want you to see the pictures they’ve stored there. But then again, who would? Except for the receiver.
People are pretty savvy with their phones at this point. Essentially, where there’s a will, there’s a way which is to say that what adults and even teens are doing with their phones isn’t necessarily so innocent. According to a study done by online security program McAfee, more than 54% of adults admit to sending steamy text messages. Or should we say sexts? Anything from nude pics to steamy sentences and explicit videos counts.
Listen, on one hand, sexting is an awesome way to keep your relationship fresh and hot. Where we used to have love letters, we now send each other 160 playful characters about what we’re planning to do to one another tonight. Men and women are always looking for ways to communicate better. Sex-talk and being explicit about what you want can be difficult, so doing so over a mobile device might actually improve the communication in your relationship. It’s even related to having a more fulfilling, satisfying sex life.
Go ahead and turn to Google for some sexy sext samples. This study shows a lot of states in the U.S. have a pretty large population of people looking to learn more about how to text their love language. Sexting isn’t going anywhere, regardless of how hard lawmakers, parents, and teachers would like to guard teenagers from it.
8 states have already thrown up some laws about the who, what, when, where, why, and how of sexting for minors. For one thing, sending anyone under eighteen a picture of the human version of a peach or eggplant is technically child pornography. Yeah, even if you’re just receiving it.
However, apparently sexting is actually part of developing a healthy sex life later on. Is sexting normal? Of course, it is. So far, no one can find a link between sexting and turning into a hussie later down the line.
Talking about sexting and actually doing it should be the gateway/ice breakers of the “Sex talk”. You can role play, you can tell your partner what you really want without that awkward feeling. Don’t you see that as a benefit? If you get rosy cheeks over doing the dirty, sexting is an easy way to get into a new position on the deed.
So if you’re sending spicy messages over your tech devices, you’re not alone. But you can do better than those emojis. The next time you get an itch you want to scratch, don’t hesitate to pick up the phone.
