New Years Resolutions You Can Actually Accomplish (No Excuses Attached)

Each new year begins with the whole “new year, new me” shenanigans, but what this really boils down to is setting high expectations for yourself with unrealistic outcomes. Or maybe it’s not unrealistic expectations after all.

As human beings walking this wide open land referred to as earth, often times we tend to get lost in the expectations held by others and become less conscious of our own personal being.

So, for twenty-seventeen it’s time to put the excuses aside and pump up that accomplishment list.

1. Adios Curse Words.
Whether you drop the “F” bomb on the daily or once in a blue moon — try and limit yourself until you reach the realization of correcting yourself when a naughty word slips off your tongue.

2. Focus on YOU.
Don’t forget about others, but don’t focus all of your time, attention and energy on everyone else and forget about you. Do what’s best for you — mentally, emotionally, and physically. Drop the drama and unnecessary relationships. Seriously (you’ll thank me later).

3. Hit The Gym.
You can’t get much more cliche than this (I know), but seriously — the first step in promoting a healthy “new you” is taking care of your body. Plus it makes you feel hella good by increasing energy and motivation levels. It’s okay to be cliche every now and then.

4. Increase Spiritual Focus.
If religion means something to you, try and put more time and focus into increasing one-on-one time with the big man upstairs. Try not to miss church at all this year, or maybe even find a church and restart your journey in faith. Or start a devotion and go at your own pace.

5. Have The Time of Your Life.
Money or not (although a serious problem comes with a negative zero bank balance) — either way, try something new, go out with friends, make new friends, and most importantly, make new memories.

This year — don’t be afraid to take chances. You never know where it’ll lead you.
Happy New Year!
