I’ve been dancing since I was around two, so if you’re anything like me, you love workouts that are not only effective but also fun to do; the ones that don’t always seem like workouts. There is nothing worse than dreading having to workout, and trust me, there have definitely been days that working out is the last thing I want to do!
Being in college, I found myself not always having time to go to the gym. Since I figured I’m not the only one in this boat, here’s a list of my favorite workouts that are dorm/bedroom friendly! They’re also great for the days when you’re not quite feeling up to taking a group class.
1. Survivor by Dance Fitness with Jessica
The song is by Destiny’s Child and one that I grew up listening to! This is great for working your arms, core, and butt. The lower you squat throughout the better of a workout your butt gets! Also make sure to really engage your abs throughout to get the most out of the workout. Jessica has an intro on this video with the actual workout starting at 1:58. And did I mention that it’s only four minutes long?! Talk about short and to the point.
2. Sorry by The Fitness Marshall
If you like Justin Bieber, I bet you’ll like this cardio hip-hop routine by The Fitness Marshall! It’s one of those workouts that seems more like dancing around and having fun than working out. Even though it doesn’t seem like much, I always work up a sweat by the end! Like the first one, this routine is only a couple of minutes long as well which is perfect if you’re short on time.
*Bonus points if you sing along with the music, it ups the cardio aspect!
3. 10 Minute Cardio Dance Abs Workout: Burn to the Beat by Keaira LaShae
I just found this workout this morning on my quest for looking for something to switch out my old abs routine for. While this one doesn’t use a song you’d hear on the radio, it’s still upbeat and fun to get your workout on to! As the title suggests, this workout is a little longer at ten minutes, but it is totally worth it. My abs were on fire afterwards! Like the first video, make sure to really squeeze your abs throughout though, or it won’t be as effective.
4. Train Like An Angel: Runway Butt
Since I already follow Candice Swanepoel on Instagram, I did a little searching for what workouts she does. I like this video because it also offers explanations as to what each exercise helps with and the different muscles that you’re working. I usually play the video and pause it on each exercise until I complete the reps. I also think it’s great that Justin (the trainer) also talks about how stretching is just as important as the workout itself! I definitely feel the burn after this one, and I have noticed my butt is way more toned than it used to be!
5. Break Free by The Fitness Marshall
This last one is another by The Fitness Marshall that’s set to a song by Arianna Grande. I love this cardio hip-hop routine, and it always gets my heart pumping! It’s only about three and a half minutes long. Whenever I do this cardio hip-hop routine I can’t help but sing along. Even though I’m sweaty and a little out of breath by the end (more so if I sing along) I am instantly in a better mood just because of how fun this is to do!
