Sorry Guys, But My Bestie Will Always Be My Soulmate

“Maybe we can be each other’s soulmates. Then we can let men just be these great, nice guys to have fun with.” – Charlotte York, Sex and the City

My best friend filled a place in my life that I didn’t really know what empty before I met her, and she quickly became my ride or die bitch, the first person I want to call when anything happens.

She makes me laugh uncontrollably at the ridiculous memes that she tags me in on Facebook, judges people’s wardrobe choices for weddings when we’re both (not-so-tragically) dateless, and she’s always reminding me not to settle for less than I deserve.

There’s literally no way that any boy is going to come between us.

You could be the first Tinder date to ever succeed for me, but she’s the one who will be sitting right next to me to help me analyze every single text message you send for the first six months.

You might be the cutest person to put his lips on mine since my first kiss, but she’s the one who gets to hear me bitch that you didn’t get me off for the second time that month when we were getting sexy.

You’re the one who takes me out to fancy dinners, but she’s the one that I’ll be on the phone with right after I get home to give a rundown on the happenings of the events and whether or not things are going well.

You might be the one who gets to change my last name, but she’ll be the one standing beside me on that day, helping me get ready and holding my bouquet while we make our vows.

We made a deal ages ago, just like the girls on Sex and the City, that it doesn’t matter what else happens – men, babies, marriage, breakups – we’re soulmates.

She’s the person who has been there for me through thick and thin, through new relationships and breakups, through one night stands and potential forevers, so there’s no way that you’re going to replace her.
